Associating, With Rotary Printer Patents (Class 270/18)
  • Patent number: 11260674
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a sheet conveyance portion, a recording portion, a sheet detection portion, and a control portion. In a duplex printing including a first and a second process of printing on a first surface and a second surface of the sheet, in the first process, the control portion calculates a center position of the sheet based on an edge position of the sheet on one side in the width direction and size information of the sheet, prints a first image on the first surface such that the first image is centered on the center position calculated, and prints a reference marker on the first surface. In the second process, the control portion calculates a correction magnification ratio based on a difference between a reading position and the printing position of the reference marker, and corrects a size and a printing position of a second image.

  • Patent number: 8970928
Abstract: This invention provides a technique of preventing a collision between an original document and a printing material on a conveyance path when an image forming apparatus executes both additional printing on the original document and printing on the printing material. In a case where both additional printing on an original document and printing on a printing material are executed, the image forming apparatus according to one aspect of the invention conveys a read original document to a transfer unit through a conveyance path commonly used for an original document and sheet, and prints an image to be added on the original document. After the original document is conveyed to the transfer unit through the conveyance path, the image forming apparatus feeds a sheet from a sheet feeding unit to the conveyance path, and performs copying on the sheet in the transfer unit.

Abstract: Systems and methods for aligning preprinted images on a roll of substrate to the moving components of a web press are disclosed. A method in accordance with one embodiment includes determining the speed of the moving components of the press, determining the speed of the web of preprinted images and adjusting the speed of the web of preprinted image to match the speed of the web. In particular embodiments, a press which produces rolls of preprinted material can be modified to change the equivalent cutoff length of the press. In further embodiments, a method of pasting new rolls of material to expiring rolls of material is accomplished by modulating the drive speed of the new roll of material to match the expiring roll of material while at the same time aligning the images on the new roll with the expiring roll.

For this purpose, at the time of a first surface printing operation, by accumulating correction factors obtained for a plurality of pages, a more highly reliable correction factor is obtained. Further, at the time of a second surface printing operation, by controlling a conveyance operation with the highly reliable correction factor, a cut mark is surely detected by the detecting operation of the cut mark sensor within a limited range.
