Patent number: 5885157Abstract: A dice game machine using a die in the shape of a regular hexahedron or dodecahedron. Each side of the die has a drawing of a symbol and is provided with a plurality of magnet pins having a pattern identifying the symbol on the opposite side. This die is accommodated in a rotatable cup having an upper portion, a lower portion, and a base opening. During the rotation of the cup, the die moves freely in the upper portion of the cup. When the rotation of the cup stops, the die falls into the lower portion of the cup in a predetermined posture. The die then has a bottom side in contact with a stage via the base opening. A plurality of Hall elements are disposed on the stage to detect corresponding magnet pins. A symbol identified by signals from the Hall elements is displayed on a display. Signals from a plurality of dice game machines are supplied to a computer which displays a combination of a plurality of symbols on the display.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1996Date of Patent: March 23, 1999Assignee: Eagle Co., Ltd.Inventors: Mitsuhito Harada, Haruo Inoue

Patent number: 5865435Abstract: A game apparatus offers a game played by a plurality of players. The game apparatus uses an object having means for determining a result of the game, the result of the game being dependent on a movement of the object, a moving process of the object being observed by the players. Magnitude information indicative of a magnitude determined by one of the players is generated and detected in the game apparatus. A driving force is applied to the object so that the object is thrown toward a field defined by the game apparatus. A magnitude of the driving force is controlled in accordance with the magnitude of the hitting force. The object is collected by a collecting member moving on the field from a rear side to a front side. A pair of attracting members are provided on the front side of the field and move in opposite directions. The object is sandwiched between the attracting members and, thus, the object is placed on a throwing plate positioned in the center of the front side of the field.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1997Date of Patent: February 2, 1999Assignee: Sega Enterprises, Ltd.Inventors: Yuji Ikeda, Yasuo Jin

Patent number: 5263715Abstract: A dice displaying apparatus for a computer game machine includes a trackball operable by each player. Rolling speeds of two dice are derived from an amount and direction of operation of the trackball. Rolling angles of the dice are also derived from the amount and direction of operation of the trackball, with slight angles derived from random numbers added thereto. Display positions for the respective dice are determined every predetermined intervals of time from the rolling speeds and rolling angles. Image patterns of varied phases of rolling dice corresponding to the rolling angles are presented in the respective display positions on CRT displays.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1992Date of Patent: November 23, 1993Assignee: Irem CorporationInventors: Shigekazu Matsumoto, Hiroyoshi Hashimoto

Patent number: 5100141Abstract: A device for scrambling dice and the like includes a pair of housing bodies which collectively define a generally vertical chute for directing dice from an upper entryway to a lower discharge opening. A door is attached adjacent to a lower edge of the discharge opening and is pivotable between a first position wherein the door closes the discharge opening, and a second position wherein the door provides a ramp for directing dice falling downwardly through the chute away from the housing through the discharge opening. A plurality of pins and baffles extending into the chute deflect dice falling downwardly through the chute. In one embodiment, the pins may be removed and repositioned as desired. The housing bodies are further configured to provide a closed container for the dice to facilitate shipping and storage of the dice within the dice scrambler.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1991Date of Patent: March 31, 1992Inventor: Robert B. Patent number: 4383689Abstract: A game whose object is the formation of words or groupings of symbols utilizing a plurality of multi-faceted playing pieces, such as cubes, each of whose faces bears a single symbol such as a letter. The playing pieces are positioned in a receptacle which is mounted for spring-loaded pivotal movement on a support structure. The receptacle is engaged in cocked position by a latching mechanism attached to the support, and when the latching mechanism is disengaged, the receptacle is rapidly rotated about a horizontal axis, causing the receptacle to forcefully strike an abutment mounted on the support, thus scrambling the pieces. The receptacle then is restored to the cocked position in which the playing pieces are so supported that a single upper symbol is displayed on each piece.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1981Date of Patent: May 17, 1983Assignee: Michael Kohner CorporationInventors: Michael Kohner, Frank Kohner, Albert Stubbmann
