  • Patent number: 8033548
Abstract: The present invention provides playing cards which allow a code to be read reliably from the cards shot out at various speeds. Playing cards (1) are provided with a code (2) not readable under a lighting condition of visible light, but readable under lighting conditions other than the visible light. The code (2) comprises four code elements (3) arranged in two rows and two columns and represents suit and rank information of the playing cards (1). The code elements (3) include at least two types of mark which differ in length in a column direction corresponding to a reading direction of the code (2). Row-by-row combinations of the code elements (3) arranged in a row direction orthogonal to the code reading direction can be identified uniquely and the suit and rank information of the playing cards (1) represented by the code (2) can be identified based on the row-by-row combinations of the code elements (3).

  • Patent number: 6422564
Abstract: A playing card wagering game method which involves each player making a wager. A dealer deals cards face down to each participating player. Players discard the highest numerical ranking card of their dealt cards and place said card into an appropriate high card area. Players then hold two of the remaining four cards, discarding the two remainder cards into an appropriate discard area. Dealer builds a dealer two card hand from the high cards discarded from the players. All cards in each players hand are shown and the payouts and collections are resolved according to summed numerical values of each players and the dealers two card hand. The ones position of the summed numerical value is to determine the scores of the respective players and dealer. A winning score is less in numerical value than a losing score.

  • Patent number: 6412779
Abstract: A plurality of cards each having one or more primary value icons is utilized in a game similar to the game of “war” in which the relative power or value between cards is established on a preliminary basis by the number of primary value icons thereon. Each card in addition supports a coded image in which a plurality of colored image elements are formed. In at least some of the coded images a latent icon is printed and obscured by the remainder of the coded image. A decoder card sized and shaped to correspond to the remaining cards of the game includes an aperture supporting a tinted filter. When the tinted filter is placed over the coded image the latent icon therein becomes viewable. During game play the appearance of a decoder card allows the player to play the next card in combination with the decoder card to reveal the latent icon. The latent icon operates under the game rules to alter the power or value of the given card such as for example by doubling the card value.

  • Patent number: 6345824
Abstract: A bonus method for a base casino card game, such as Blackjack or Baccarat, begins with the player making an ante wager and a first and second bonus wager. The player and dealer are each dealt a hand of cards, or electronic representations thereof. The player plays the player's hand to completion and is rewarded based on the player's first bonus wager if the player's hand includes a predetermined bonus combination. The values of the cards are then summed according to the rules of the base game and the player's ante wager is resolved by comparing a player's hand value with the hand value of the dealer and determining which hand is closest to a target value. Finally, the player's second bonus wager is resolved by rewarding the player if the player has won both the base game and the first bonus wager. If the player loses the base game or does not have a bonus combination, the player's second bonus wager is collected.

  • Patent number: 5887873
Abstract: A deck of cards, tiles, or similar playing pieces, real or simulated on a computer or other device, chiefly characterized by a trilateral organization comprising three independent aspects: suit, value, and color or color group. The plurality of cards representing each element of each aspect comprise approximately equal pluralities of each element of each of the other aspects. Except for auxiliary cards, each card in a single deck represents a unique combination of a single suit, a single color group, and a single value or rank. The preferred form of the invention is a series of related triadic decks of playing cards comprising three suits and three color groups (20R, 20G, 20B), nonsexist or gender-neutral picture cards (22, 24), an improved layout, and indicative card backs (32). The layout improvement typically involves additional set designation markers (16) in the two commonly vacant corners of a card face (FIG. 2A).

  • Patent number: 5791652
Abstract: A deck of playing cards, games, and methods of play to be used for play of conventional domino games and interchangeable suit or multiple denomination card games. The deck of cards is representative of a set of dominoes. The cards contain a primary indicia (30a), a secondary indicia (30b), and a tertiary indicia (30c). These indicia are located in positions that allow the player to clearly view and recognize all possible denominations of the cards when they are held in the typical fan-like fashion. Each indicia is composed of a first value (32b) and a second value (34b). These three indicia are each representative of the same domino and have corresponding orientations, with respect to their values. In many games, the method of play allows a player to choose either value for the suit and the other becomes the rank. The player can organize their cards by rotating them by 180 degrees, inverting the relative position of its values, to reflect a change in the desired suit.

  • Patent number: 5549301
Abstract: A card game includes seventy two cards in six different categories or sets. The cards in each set are numbered consecutively from one to twelve; cards in the range from one to six constitute the low numbered cards, whereas cards in the range from seven to twelve constitute the high numbered cards. The game includes a bidding phase, and a playing phase. During the bidding phase the players predict, or claim, the number of tricks that they will take. During the playing phase the players play cards individually, to win tricks according to the number value on the respective cards. The winning bidder determines whether the play will take place with the low numbered cards or the high numbered cards.

  • Patent number: 5110134
Abstract: A novel method and apparatus for determing whether or not a hole card is a member of a blackjack pair without direct observation of the hole card. The cards are separably marked in groups of aces and of face cards and tens. Each mark is detectable by a card mark sensor. The card mark sensor is used to differentially determine whether or not the hole card is a member of predetermined group when a card is placed face down therein. Thus, when the dealer receives a face-up member of a blackjack pair, the hole card is inserted into the sensor and determined to be or not to be the other member of the blackjack pair immediately and without observation of the face of the hole card. If the hole card is the other member of the blackjack pair play is stopped, and the next hand is thereby more quickly started. If the dealer does not have blackjack, play continues without knowledge by either player or dealer of the actual value of the hole card.

  • Patent number: 4588193
Abstract: A deck of playing cards preferably comprising sixty two-value cards, whereby the deck consists of three different suits with four different number values per suit, and twelve half-wild cards consisting of a fifth number value which is wild in terms of its suit. The deck is uniquely designed so that every number value of a given suit is paired once with every number value of the other suits. In this manner, the deck constitutes a fair deck in which the probabilities of any given dealt hand can be predetermined so that successful winning stratagies can be developed. The deck is mathematically designed to overcome the statistical inadequacies of two-valued cards of the prior art. The deck may also be supplemented with a die representing the different suits, for games in which one suit ranks differently than another suit.
