The couplings can be permanent or removable, depending upon the need for storage or shipping after assembly. Each target includes a plurality of rungs, each spaced from each other by a predetermined distance. Projectiles include two relatively massive ends fabricated from balls similar to golf balls, separated by a flaccid cord or rope. In the most preferred embodiment, the spacing between target rungs is one-half the spacing of the projectile massive ends. The rules of play and various alternative embodiments are also presented.

Abstract: An apparatus for playing a toss game includes a projectile consisting of two weights connected by a tether and a stand. The stand includes a base supporting a goal. The goal includes at least two crossbars, each of which is assigned a point value. A method of playing a toss game is played in series. A series consists of competitors tossing a predetermined number of projectiles at the goal. The competitors score points with projectiles by looping over, wrapping around, or intersecting crossbars. Points are deducted if a projectile is dislodged from the goal. Competitors attempt to obtain an aggregate score equal to a target value. Procedures for resolving ties and tosses that cause competitors to exceed the target value may be employed.

  • Patent number: 6726207
Abstract: A casting game includes a panel with targets. The targets are doors that pivot between a closed position, in which the doors are substantially parallel to the panel, and an open position, in which the doors are transverse to the panel. A user casts an object, such as a simulated lure, at the panel aiming to hit a door with a force sufficient to make the door pivot from the closed position to the open position. The user resets the game by maneuvering the lure to cooperate with structures on the apparatus that force the door to pivot from the open position to the closed position.

Abstract: An invention relating to a device and method for training all types of pitchers. The coach observes a pitch, approximating its natural apogee. This point should be at about 12 to 15 feet from the mound/release point. The Pitcher's Box pitcher training system is placed at the approximate point of apogee and adjustments in height and width are made to accommodate the ability of the pitcher, placing the target object as near as possible to the apogee height with the target object being no closer than 12 inches to the top of the enclosed section itself. The coach instructs the pitcher to pitch at and through the target object to the target zone at home plate. The pitcher is able to remove the stigma of distance from the pitch, enabling the subject to work on mechanics, conditioning, strength and repetition. For advanced work by accomplished subjects more than one Pitcher's Box can be used in tandem to establish control and placement, desired movement, and to map movement and reactions.

  • Patent number: 6308956
Abstract: A tethered ball toss game is described in which a number of tethered balls arranged at both ends of a series of cords and secured to the ends of the cords by knots are tossed from a prescribed distance toward a number of horizontal bars positioned between upright supports which are retained in perpendicular angularity to the underlying support surface by bottom supports. Each of the horizontal bars are relocatable in a vertical direction along the side supports to other pre-determined points for engagement with the side supports by engaging a retractable latching member into a cooperating hole so that the bar is secured in the desired position. In this fashion the distance between the bars can be altered to vary the difficulty and skill levels of the game. Alternative embodiments of the game are also contemplated where the length of the bars is varied by changing the shape of the side supports to accommodate shortened horizontal bars.
