Threaded Sleeve And Wedge Patents (Class 279/47)
  • Patent number: 10464141
Abstract: A collet chuck for clamping a tool shank, comprising a chuck body, a collet and a multi-part clamping nut consisting of a clamping ring and a threaded section rotatably connected to each other via rolling elements, otherwise connected in an interlocking manner, wherein the clamping ring and the collet comprise interlocking coupling elements designed such that the collet can be inserted into the collet housing through the central opening, facing away from the chuck body, of the clamping ring held on the chuck body, while the coupling elements move past each other, and then the coupling elements can be brought into engagement with each other by rotating the clamping ring relative to the collet, so that the clamping ring can transmit the forces applied to it by the threaded section during tightening to the collet via the coupling element and can drive the collet into the chuck body.

  • Patent number: 5947485
Abstract: An Improved Collet Assembly and Manufacturing Process is disclosed. Also disclosed is an improved collet that includes a spindle, a center portion comprising several tabs and a collar. The disclosed collet is manufactured from a single piece of stock, and as such, that the tabs are formed from this unitary piece. The disclosed collet is inserted into a collet housing that is further defined by a bore in its center. The preferred collet housing bore is further defined by a sloped portion that cooperates with the tabs formed on the collet to restrain a burr shaft from rotational or axial movement. The collet assembly of the present invention provides improved balance and therefore wear properties over previous collet assembly. In particular, the disclosed collet assembly is well suited for application inside a cannister assembly of a air-powered dental tool handpiece.

  • Patent number: 4582332
Abstract: A spring chuck has a clamp member opening mechanism comprising a guide groove formed in a rotating shaft and inclined in one direction, a guide groove formed on a wall surface of a bar stopper and inclined in the other direction opposite to the one direction, a push member, a holding hole formed in the push member, and a ball held in the holding hole in the push member, one projection of which is engaged with the guide groove in the rotating shaft and the other projection of which is engaged with the guide groove in the bar stopper. When the push member is moved downward, the rotating shaft and the bar stopper are rotated in opposite directions, and the relative rotation between the rotating shaft and the bar stopper becomes a sum of rotational angles of the rotating shaft and the bar stopper. A displacement of an upper cover and the push member becomes small, so that the clamp member opening mechanism can be held in a head case.

  • Patent number: 4202644
Abstract: A mounting device for anchoring a machine element coaxially on a rotary shaft. The device fits between the interior cylindrical bore of the machine element and the internal cylindrical surface of the shaft and is effective to position the element at any desired position longitudinally of the shaft and at any angular position circumferentially of the shaft. The device has inner and outer segmented sleeves, the mating surfaces of which are similarly tapered so that relative axial displacement of the sleeves effects expansion and contraction of the interior bore and external surface of the combined elements. At one end the inner sleeve is externally threaded to cooperate with an internally threaded nut, such that rotation of the nut on the threaded portion of the inner sleeve effects the relative axial displacement of the segmented inner and outer sleeves.
