  • Patent number: 5848474
Abstract: A saw blade clamping arrangement particularly for power reciprocating saws and similar tools having a reciprocating drive shaft connected to a cutting member such as a saw blade includes a clamping member movable relative to the drive shaft between a clamped position and a release position. A threaded fastener passes through an aperture formed in a portion of the clamping member and functions to move the clamping member to its clamped position upon selective rotation. A sleeve surrounds the threaded fastener for rotation therewith. When the sleeve is biased against the clamping member through the force of a biasing member, opposing surfaces prevent rotation of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5709393
Abstract: A tool bit chuck for drilling and chiseling bits has an axially extending receiving sleeve (1) with an opening (3) therethrough in which latching elements (9) are radially displaceably supported. The latching elements (9) are radially displaceable by a spring loaded axially displaceable actuating element (10). An actuating sleeve (12) laterally encloses and is axially displaceable relative to the receiving sleeve (1). Connecting members fix (6, 13) the actuating sleeve to the receiving sleeve. The actuating sleeve (12) has a stop (14) cooperating with the actuating element (10) for applying an axial force to the actuating element for assisting in centering the drilling or chiseling bit.

  • Patent number: 5702112
Abstract: In the front head (11) of a machine hammer (10), transversely disposed wedges (18) are adapted to lock the working tool (12) so that the working tool (12) is axially movable by form-restricted cooperation with recesses (16) on the working tool (12). Each wedge (18) is locked in the front head (11) by a key (20), which extends across the wedge (18) into engagement with a transverse bore (21) therein. The key (20) has a releasable locking device including a locking element affixed in the front head (11) and formed by a polyurethane block (24). The block (24) is provided with a through bore (27) and has elastically form-recovering material properties. When, for purposes of locking the key (20), the key (20) is pressed through the bore of the block (24), the block (24) is caused to expand resiliently into an annular groove (22) on the key (20), thereby locking the key (20) in the front head (11) and providing its wedge (18) locking function.

  • Patent number: 5317894
Abstract: The quick change insert system of the present invention utilizes a removable locking pin and an insert sleeve to permit easy replacement of an insert pin within a sleeve. Insert pin replacement occurs by removing the locking pin. After removing the locking pin, the insert sleeve is removed together with the insert pin. The insert pin is separated from the insert sleeve, and a replacement insert pin is put in its place. The new insert pin and the insert sleeve slide back into the sleeve, and the locking pin secures the insert pin and the insert sleeve to the sleeve. The present invention does not require the removing or re-adjusting of the sleeve during insert pin replacement. Furthermore, the present invention permits easy replacement of other sleeve assembly parts during part to part changeover and eliminates costly inventory of sleeve assemblies.
