  • Patent number: 6810918
Abstract: A supply spool supplies a weft thread through an adjustable actuated thread brake and a thread tension sensor to a weft thread accumulator, from which an accumulated insertion length of the thread is provided to a weft insertion device. The tension sensor provides a measured actual thread tension signal to a control arrangement, which compares the actual tension to a selected rated tension, and, dependent on the deviation therebetween, provides a control signal to an actuator of the thread brake, so that the actual thread tension constantly corresponds to the selected rated tension. Another sensor provides a signal indicating a change from an empty spool to a full spool. Responsive thereto, the control arrangement actuates the thread brake to an adjustable starting brake setting as a coarse adjustment. Then the self-regulating fine adjustment is continued. A constant winding tension and thread accumulation length are achieved in the thread accumulator.

  • Patent number: 6470713
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring run/stop conditions of a yarn, particularly in a knitting or warping machine utilizing a yarn feeler. The yarn feeler includes an electronic, yarn actuated transducer operating with variable gain amplification of run input signals which are further processed to final output signals representing the run/stop conditions. The amplification gain for the run input signal is automatically electronically controlled with a time delay and is adjusted towards a floating minimum which is just sufficient to derive stable final output signals. The, reaction time delay allows compensation for naturally occurring parametric fluctuations of the run input signal, while a sudden drop of the run input signal due to yarn breakage is processed to a final output stop signal.

  • Patent number: 6375111
Abstract: A method is provided for unwinding a cake of wound elastomeric yarn from a creel, passing the elastomeric yarn over a bend in a thread guide and beaming the elastomeric yarn onto a bobbin in a warper head. The method includes the step of positioning the bend in the thread guide so as to contact the elastomeric yarn passing over the bend and change the direction of the elastomeric yarn passing through the thread guide just one time. The thread guide is attached to a base member such that a portion of the thread guide moves in response to changes in tension in the elastomeric yarn. The base member includes a mechanism for monitoring the position of the thread guide, which generates an electrical signal if the thread guide moves beyond a desired range in response to an increase in tension in the elastomeric yarn. The monitoring mechanism may also generate an electrical signal in response to the absence of tension in the elastomeric yarn passing through the thread guide.

Abstract: Method for the simultaneous monitoring of yarn quality on a number of similar monitoring points of a textile machine, in which each monitoring point uses one measuring element together with the processors assigned to the measuring elements for processing the pulses supplied by the measuring elements, whereby the various data processing stages for the individual monitoring points run at different rates of repeat. Each group of several measuring elements is allocated to a common processor and the pulse procesing stages with the same rates of repeat are grouped into classes and the rate of running these classes is so controlled that with respect to the individual monitoring points, the relevant data processing stages are repeated approximately periodically.

  • Patent number: 4720702
Abstract: The yarn tension at each of a plurality of yarn processing stations is continuously monitored, while continuously determining the mean value of the monitored tension at each station, and while also continuously determining the differential between the monitored value and the mean value. Also, an alarm signal is generated whenever the mean value leaves a predetermined tolerance range, and whenever the differential value leaves a second predetermined tolerance range. An alarm signal may serve to actuate a visual error indicator, or to shut down the associated processing station.

  • Patent number: 4630340
Abstract: An apparatus and method for processing a warp sheet of synthetic multifilament yarns is disclosed, and wherein the yarns may be withdrawn from supply packages and advanced along a path of travel in warp sheet form, heated and drawn while in advancing warp sheet form to orient the filaments, and then wound, for example, on a warp beam. Upon detection of a yarn break, the advance of the warp sheet is terminated, and means are provided for interrupting the application of heat to the sheet while the advance is terminated so as to avoid damage to the remaining yarns from a continued application of heat.

  • Patent number: 4573245
Abstract: An apparatus for assembling warps of spun fibers and/or filament yarns present on yarn beams to form a warp present on a warp beam is described. This apparatus has a pneumatic pressure regulator (1), an electromagnetically operable pneumatic valve (2) downstream of the pressure regulator, a three-position rotary disk valve (3) downstream of the pneumatic valve, and pneumatically operable brake cylinders (4) of the yarn beam brakes (12) which are arranged downstream of the three-position rotary disk valve and connected in parallel with each other and a pneumatic by-pass limited in time so that asynchronous pneumatic braking of the yarn beams and of the warp beam during rapid braking is avoided. The by-pass serves to bridge the switching time of the three-position rotary disk valve (3). According to one embodiment, the control of the pneumatic valve (6) switchable with delay and of the pneumatic valves (7 and 8) occurs pneumatically.

Abstract: The system according to the invention comprises a sensor composed of a movable unit formed by an electrical circuit in which are placed two supple blade switches closed by a rocking member in response to the presence of a yarn. Said circuit comprises a conductor wound on a magnetic core. The data transmitting device comprises a fixed looped conductor of which one part is parallel to the path followed by the sensor and traverses the core. Means are provided for generating oscillations in the looped conductor, as well as means for detecting a variation in the oscillating conditions induced by a change of state of the electrical circuit due to the closure of one switch and indicating that the sensor has met up with a yarn. Due to the detection of the variations in the oscillating conditions, it is possible to find out the number of breakages occurring in the textile machine.

  • Patent number: 4522236
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for electrically monitoring warp yarn ruptures, comprising drop wires which in case of rupture of a warp yarn will fall from the warp yarns on an electrical contact rail. The locating time to determine the precise site of warp yarn rupture is thereby shortened substantially. To achieve this aim, the contact rails are severally divided in the longitudinal direction, that is, in the direction of the weft yarns. Light-emitting diodes are mounted at each of such divisions which they bridge. Those LEDs lighting up in case of warp yarn rupture permit rapidly reading off the narrower range within which a warp yarn rupture has taken place.
