Patent number: 7232133Abstract: Disclosed is a snow sled with brake pedals that can be actuated operated either independently or cooperatively by foot pressure or by manual cable-brake control levers, to press the brake shoes into the snow surface over which the sled is traveling, thereby braking the sled. The brake pedals are pivotably suspended from the sled frame so that the rider's feet can rest upon them. The lower portions of the pedals form brake shoes extending downward and rearward from the foot rest portions of the pedals, such that the brake shoes can be pressed into the snow surface by applying foot pressure to the pedals. Alternatively, the brake pedals can be actuated by a bicycle-style cable-brake lever. Cable-biasing means is provided to keep the brake cable taut when the brake pedals have been partially actuated by foot pressure, so that the cable-brake system remains operatively effective at all times.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2005Date of Patent: June 19, 2007Inventor: Bob F. Patent number: 5863051Abstract: A foldable skibob includes a frame with a steering column journalled in a forward steering column bearing. A first pivot configuration is attached to the steering column and a front ski is articulated at the first pivot configuration. A second pivot configuration is attached at the rear end and a rear ski is articulated at the second pivot configuration. A first spring support supports the first pivot configuration against the steering column, and a second spring support supports the second pivot configuration against the rear end of the frame. A support element is provided at one of the first and second spring supports against which a respective pivot configuration rests when the skibob is in an operational condition. The support element is pivotable away from the support element towards a center region of the frame between the front end and the rear end for folding the skibob.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1996Date of Patent: January 26, 1999Assignee: Brenter Skibob KGInventor: Erich Brenter

Patent number: 5836593Abstract: A device for pulling heavy equipment across a supporting surface such as a floor. It includes a composite pad of generally rectangular shape having lengthwise and crosswise edges. The composite pad includes a lower, flexible sheet of plastic and an upper backing of rubber. The plastic sheet has a smooth lower surface for engaging the floor. The upper rubber backing has a ribbed surface for engaging the equipment. A pair of straps attached to the composite pad extend lengthwise beyond at least one crosswise edge of the composite pad. Each of the pair of straps is attached to the composite pad between the plastic sheet and the rubber backing along a lengthwise edge of the composite pad. Each of the straps terminates in a distal end located remotely of the composite pad and a handle is formed in each distal end of each strap. Each strap may extend beyond each crosswise edge of the pad.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1996Date of Patent: November 17, 1998Inventor: Vernon James Skinner

Patent number: 5618051Abstract: An articulated two-section snowboard includes separate front and rear sections joined together for articulation and oscillation, each section having a binding for one foot. In a preferred embodiment, the joint between the two sections is achieved by one or more flexible straps. The front end of the strap being attached to the rear end of the front section and the rear end of the strap being attached to the front of the rear section, the strap preferably passes through openings formed for the purpose in the front of the rear section. A spacer may be provided to keep the rear section from riding up over the front section, and a quick-connect and disconnect latch may be provided to separate the sections for purposes of storage or replacement of a section.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1996Date of Patent: April 8, 1997Inventors: Mark J.
