Patent number: 7040634Abstract: A snowskateboard includes a support deck having an upper side and a lower side opposite the upper side. First and second trucks are mounted to the lower side. The trucks include rotatable yokes having axles. A set of first runners is disposed over the first yoke axle. A set of second runners is disposed over the second yoke axle. A first biasing mount is mounted in each of the first runners and disposed over the first axle. The first biasing mounts each have first biasing members configured to bias in a torsional direction relative to the first truck axle. A second biasing mount is mounted in each of the second runners and is disposed over the second axle. The second biasing mounts each have second biasing members configured to bias in a torsional direction relative to the second axle.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2004Date of Patent: May 9, 2006Inventor: Paul Elkins, Jr.

Patent number: 6648348Abstract: A ski-snowboard device has a support board for the user and a plurality of ski pairs mounted to the underside of the board. The ski-snowboard has a steering and suspension system, connecting the skis in each pair, to provide paired steering and independent suspension. Each steering and suspension system preferably comprises two pivoting generally-V-shaped arms connecting the board to the skis, wherein the V-shaped arms are spaced apart at their top end connections to the board, and each connect to different portions of rocker members that hold the skis. The V-shaped arms pivot relative to the board, and the rocker members pivot relative to the arms and also relative to the skis. Shock-absorbing/biasing systems cushion vibrations and tune the suspension and steering. Thus, the skis move right and left, move to their inside edges, and swing forward and rearward, to properly steer the ski-snowboard right and left and up and down terrain, for enhanced handling and control by the user.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2001Date of Patent: November 18, 2003Inventor: Mark Link

Patent number: 6474660Abstract: A pair of runner attachments for use in retrofitting an existing scooter into an all-season toy. The runner attachments having a runner on a lower side and are securely mounted on an upper side to the axle of the vehicle's wheel supports in a manner such that the runner is restrained from plowing into the snow or ice. The runners may be configured as a skate or ski.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2000Date of Patent: November 5, 2002Inventor: John F. Warren

Patent number: 6113116Abstract: A towed vehicle is towed behind such recreational off-road vehicles as snowmobiles and all terrain vehicles (ATV's). The vehicle has a body that is rotationally molded of low density polyethylene. It has an outer shell mounted on a vehicle frame and an inner shell suspended on the inside of the outer shell. The outer shell peripheral wall is formed to provide some resiliency to cushion the inner shell. The suspension of the vehicle includes a trailing arm and a one-quarter elliptical spring biasing the trailing arm away from the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 1997Date of Patent: September 5, 2000Assignee: Equinox Industries Ltd.Inventors: William H. Patent number: 4513982Abstract: A sledge or equivalent transporting base, consisting of a frame (1) and of thereinunder mounted travelling members such as runners (2), with reference to which the frame is movable in the direction longitudinal to the sledge. To the runner (2) has been pivotally attached an arc-shaped rolling member (3) with the center-point of its radius at the pivotal point and which is free to roll along an opposed counterface (5) on the frame (1). With the aid of the invention, sledge runners which have frozen fast to snow or ice can be easily freed by first backing up so that the load rolls into its rear position, whereafter the sledge is started, whereby with the aid of the load's mass the runners are jerked free from frozen-on snow and ice.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1982Date of Patent: April 30, 1985Inventor: Pekka Niemela

Patent number: 4424979Abstract: Suspension and steering assembly for a snowmobile including at least one ski for supporting a front portion of its body and also for steering the snowmobile, comprising a strut means capable of telescopically expanding and contracting, spring means, a shock absorber and a steering arm means. The strut means includes a first or inner strut member and a second or outer strut member, the first strut member being slidably mounted in the second strut member. The first or inner strut member is pivotally connected at its lower end to the surface of the ski. The second or outer strut member is rotatably supported to the body of the snowmobile. The spring means is operative to urge the two strut members to slide out of each other. The shock absorber is pivotally connected at one end to the ski and at the other end to the second strut member of the strut means, and extends obliquely with respect to the strut means.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1982Date of Patent: January 10, 1984Assignee: Kawasaki Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Izumi Takagi

Patent number: 4374591Abstract: A strut-type steering ski suspension having minimal height for a given stroke. The suspension includes shock-absorber means with a movable cylinder and a fixed rod, the rod being fixed relative to the frame of the snowmobile. A ski is mounted to the lower end of the movable cylinder. A bias spring is incorporated in the suspension, which bears in compressive opposition between the lower portion of the movable cylinder and the rod or some other structure which is fixed to the frame, thereby utilizing otherwise "dead" space for the spring, and shortening the length of suspension needed for a given stroke length.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1980Date of Patent: February 22, 1983Assignee: Yamaha Hatsudoki Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Takashi Kobayashi
