Furthermore, a first lever parallelogram is provided in order to maintain the backrest upright in any position. The backrest can be displaced by the first lever parallelogram by means of a rod, in order to ensure that no undesirable relative movement occurs between the backrest and the back of the user when getting up or sitting down. A second lever parallelogram controls the movement of the seat when getting up and sitting down to ensure that no relative movement develops between the seat and buttocks of the user. The stand-up unit may be provided with a base to serve as a chair, particularly a therapy chair. The stand-up unit, however, may also serve as a stand-up wheelchair, when connected to an undercarriage. Spring joint elements support the standing up.

Abstract: A collapsible personal wheeled conveyance comprises a first and second collapsible side frame, each having ground-contacting wheels, and at least one adjustable crossbar configured to physically connect the two collapsible side frames, the adjustable crossbar(s) having a selectively adjustable length. The adjustable crossbar(s) may be lockable or non-lockable. One or more of the adjustable crossbars may comprise seat-supporting adjustable crossbars. A seat can be configured to move laterally along such a seat-supporting adjustable crossbar to permit selective adjustment of the lateral position of this seat with respect to the side frames. One or more locking mechanisms can serve to lock the seat at a particular position. By one approach the aforementioned seat-supporting adjustable crossbar can include spacing indicia to visually indicate when the seat is centrally located between the first and second collapsible side frames for a particular selected length of the seat-supporting adjustable crossbars.

  • Patent number: 9700469
Abstract: Means for reconfiguring a wheelchair are disclosed wherein a user or an occupant of the wheelchair is enabled to repeatably alternate the wheelchair between an original load-bearing configuration and a modified load-bearing configuration by engaging and disengaging a ground-contacting adaptive implement operatively connected to a load transitioning mechanism, said load transitioning mechanism adapted for connection to a forward portion of the wheelchair. Embodiments according to the present invention enable an occupant of the wheelchair to alternate the wheelchair, through a cyclic operation sequence, between the original configuration and the modified configuration by toggling of a manipulable switch and subsequent momentary reclining of the wheelchair.

Abstract: An adjustable walker includes a tubular frame construction having front and lateral telescoping tubes defining a walker space for a user. The lateral tubes have handgrips suitable for being grasped by a user. The front telescoping tubes are adjustable in length to adjust the width of the walker space for the user and the lateral telescoping tubes are adjustable in length to adjust the height of the handgrips. Locking mechanisms are provided for locking the front telescoping tubes and the lateral telescoping tubes. Actuators on the handgrips selectively unlock the locking mechanisms to allow a user to adjust the width of the walker space and for selectively unlocking the second locking to allow a user to adjust the height of said handgrips to adjust the height and/or width of the walker by use of said actuators on said handgrips without bending or letting go of the walker.
