Patent number: 7059615Abstract: A sulky apparatus and method are described. The sulky rides behind a self-propelled mower. The sulky apparatus allows the mower operator to ride behind the mower, as the self-propelled mower is guided about a lawn. Common to the sulky apparatus is a swing arm that extends from the mower to the sulky. The invention comprises a locking mechanism including a footpad having an elongated locating pin extending from the footpad. The pin acts against a coil spring. The operator while continuing to stand on the sulky, forces the footpad and pin against the bias of the coil spring. The pin is then projected into an aperture disposed in a top portion of the sulky, thus locking the mower and sulky together in straight position alignment. Once locked, the mower and sulky can be driven in reverse.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2004Date of Patent: June 13, 2006Inventors: Glenn Johnson, Kevin Mak, John Pallay

Patent number: 6918603Abstract: A novel solution for converting a walk behind floor scrubber into a sit and ride behind floor scrubber. The present invention consists of a chassis frame to which five wheels are attached. Two of the front wheels pivot and the up-front safety wheel does not. The wheels that are attached to the rear of the frame, are non-pivotal. A person sits on the cushioned seat. Upon grabbing the floor scrubber's control handles and rotating them forward the floor scrubber, as it propells forward, pulls the present invention behind it in tandem. This allows the operator for the floor scrubber to sit and rid instead of walking, while cleaning large commercial size floors. This new procedure saves enormous time and the person controlling the scrubber will be less fatigued from hours of walking. The Scrub-mate is new to the floor cleaning industry, because it eliminates walking of the operator while using a battery-powered walk behind floor scrubber.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2003Date of Patent: July 19, 2005Inventor: George Martin Boyd

Patent number: 6692010Abstract: A safety sulky for a self-propelled mower. The safety sulky has a chamber adjacent a platform upon which a mowing operator stands. Two, spaced-apart pins that are biased downwardly by a spring can be made to rise above the chamber by two levers. The two, spaced-apart, spring-biased pins can project through the upper surface of the chamber by standing on the levers. The pins operatively engage with, and rise adjacent to, the elongated arm thus intersecting the swing path of the sulky about the connecting arm, limiting its arcuate movement.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2002Date of Patent: February 17, 2004Inventors: Glenn Johnson, John Pallay, Kevin Mak

Patent number: 6560952Abstract: A self-propelled power lawn mower for operation by an operator. The operator can operate the mower while standing on a foot platform, or alternatively when sitting down on a selectively deployable seat. Thus, the mower includes both sitting and standing modes. In certain embodiments, at least a portion of the foot platform is located between first and second rear drive wheels. The rear drive wheels are independently driveable in both forward and reverse directions at variable speeds so as to allow for approximate zero radius turning of the mower about a vertical turning axis. The foot platform is positioned near this vertical axis so that the operator when standing may be substantially unaffected by centrifugal force created during approximate zero radius turning of the mower.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2001Date of Patent: May 13, 2003Assignee: Wright Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: James D. Patent number: 6422634Abstract: The present invention is for standing boards that may be connected to buggies or prams which do not have a rear wheel shaft or otherwise are so designed that connecting of the standing board to the rear shaft is not always suitable. The standing board has a board, wheels at the rear end of the board, and mounting arms which connect the standing board to the buggy. The mounting arms are so designed that there is free space for the wheels of the buggy, possible breaking means etc., thus the mounting arms are curved so that they extend forwards and upwards from the board. The mounting of the arms at the standing board is such that the arms may take one out of several distinct positions relative to the board and when in use are fixedly arranged relative to the board. For this purpose the arms are fixed into bushings which in turn are fixed into mounting parts which preferably are integrated parts of the board of the standing board.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2001Date of Patent: July 23, 2002Inventor: Jöran Lundh

Patent number: 6371498Abstract: The present invention is for a device for mounting of wheels so that they may move in a preferably vertical direction at right angle to the wheel shaft. The invention is also standing board for prams having such wheel mounting. At its from end the standing board has a mounting means by which the standing board is pivotably mounted to the rear axle of a pram the main direction of movement of which is shown by arrow. The turning shaft of the wheel is mounted in a movable sleeve the movements of which are controlled both by a brushing which surrounds the sleeve and by a tube which is partially inserted into a groove in the sleeve. A spring is placed into the groove in the sleeve so that the spring contacts both the bottom of the groove and the end of the tube which penetrates the groove.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2001Date of Patent: April 16, 2002Inventor: Joran Lundh
