Abstract: A retractable wheel assembly (110) for a carrier (100) is disclosed wherein the wheels (120) are rotatably mounted in cowls (130), which are pivotably disposed in wheel wells (116L, 116R) on a housing. The cowls are connected with a cowl axle assembly (140) that includes a coil spring, preferably a constant force spring (150) that biases the cowls towards a retracted position. The constant force spring is connected to a retractable handle (104), preferably with a spring engagement member (160), such that extending the retractable handle will bias the cowls towards an extended position, wherein the wheels extend out of the wheel wells for use.

Abstract: A molded cover/seat secures over an opening in a carrying box on a two-wheeled cart to serve as a cover and a seat. The cover/seat has a smooth top for sitting and a ribbed waffle pattern bottom for strength. An encircling flange with interior corner protrusions securely engages the top of the carrying box. Semicircular recesses in one edge accommodate the two rods of the handle. Bottom protrusions engage a hand hole on one side of the carrying box to secure the cover/seat to the side of the carrying box for storage and transport.

Abstract: A convertible luggage device including a retractable handle assembly and at least one pair of extendable wheels. Included is a brake system operating to lock at least one of the wheels. In one aspect, the device forms a stroller. In another aspect, the device includes straps for engaging a car seat or a basket for receiving luggage or other items. By embodying a broad wheel base, the present invention provides a stable platform for pushing or pulling luggage or for performing as a stroller.

Abstract: The invention is directed to an article of upright rolling luggage including a luggage case having a bottom wall, a top wall opposed from the bottom wall, and a rear wall extending between a rear edge of the bottom wall and a rear edge of the top wall. The invention also includes one or more wheels rotatably mounted to a portion of the luggage case substantially at the rear edge of the bottom wall. One or more bases extend from the bottom wall and having at least one portion spaced apart from the wheel. One or more feet are movably mounted to the base where the foot is movable from a first position substantially adjacent to the bottom wall to a second position extending away from the bottom wall.

Abstract: A wheeled utility bag that includes a customizable storage area for conveniently transporting a number of items and extendable axles for increased stability. The utility bag includes a rigid base incorporating an extendable handle, a fixed handle, extendable axles supporting at least one rotatable wheel and a container such as a flexible bag. A supply kit can be removably mounted to a first side of the rigid base while the flexible bag is permanently attached to a second side of the base. The flexible bag forms a main compartment area for transporting tools or implements. A customized insert can be included in the main compartment. The utility bag also including a number of secondary compartments, retainers, handles, attachments and pockets.

Abstract: A case having a rectangular parallelepiped shape includes a rigid board inserted into a pocket defined in a lateral and bottom sides of the case. The board maintains the shape of the case in cooperation with wheel housings and a bracket attached to the bottom and lateral sides. A telescoping handle is also attached to the reinforcing board.

Abstract: A luggage case is provided with straps or handles for carrying the case and a wheel and an extendable handle assembly for dragging or pulling the case. The wheel and extendable handle assembly is removably attachable to the case, such that it need not be carried when the case is carried by the straps or handles. The wheel and handle assembly are formed as a shell to snugly surround the luggage case. In the preferred embodiment, the case and the shell are joined by mating zippers at the bottom front and top rear edges of the assembly.

The inner core luggage member includes two open storage shells hinged on the axis and also about their peripheries, and at least one pair of support wheels, and a retractable-extendable handle mounted on one shell whereby the core luggage member may be independently transported. An outer, wraparound garment carrier is foldable about a central horizontal axis and includes at least one pair of spaced support wheels and a telescopically retractable pull handle. The outer carrier is of equal width but substantially longer than the core luggage member, whereby the outer carrier may be folded over the core carrier in closely engaging relation.

The hidden compartment can be formed by a false bottom in one or more of the visible compartments.

Abstract: A caster assembly mounted at either bottom corner of luggage comprises a cavity disposed in an underside of the bottom corner, the cavity including an upright front wall and a slanted rear wall, a wheel mount including a positioning slot in a rear of an upper portion and a caster, and pendulum member including a thinner upper section pivotably secured to the cavity and a thicker lower section. The pendulum member is upright and disengaged from the positioning slot when the luggage is upright. Further, towing the luggage forwardly, obliquely will cause a portion the lower section of the pendulum member to enter in the positioning slot by pivoting due to gravity so as to limit the caster to move forwardly.

Abstract: A suitcase includes a housing defining an interior chamber. The housing has a panel, which has a first end and a second end. The panel also has at least one wheel rotatably connected to the housing adjacent to the first end of the panel for enabling rolling movement of the suitcase across a surface. A plurality of spaced apart axles are fixedly connected to the housing. The suitcase also contains a roller being rotatably carried by each of the axles. Each of the rollers have a portion protruding into the panel and a portion protruding exterior to the panel. An endless belt may be circumscribed around the rollers.

Abstract: This invention provides a tank carrier apparatus that enables tank users to easily and independently lift, move and transport the tanks within many environments and over many surfaces in a safe, secure convenient, and attractive manner. The tank carrier apparatus of the invention includes a housing having an interior and exterior, at least two wheels disposed on the exterior surface of the housing, a handle disposed on an opposing exterior surface of the housing from the wheels, a mechanism for securing a tank disposed at least partially in the interior of the housing, and a closeable opening to allow access to the interior of the housing.

Abstract: A flight case (24) for shipping and supporting an audio mixing console (26), having a main platform frame (28) that includes a pair of collapsible legs (30) each with reversible swivel casters (36) and a plurality of upright sockets having gas springs (48). When the flight case (24) is positioned on its side for transportation the casters (36) face outward; when positioned horizontally the casters (36) are rotated downward for resting on a hard surface. A sub frame (50) is located inside the frame (28) and is configured to receive the audio mixing console (26). A removable top (54), with side casters (56) and locking mechanisms (58) is placed over the frame (50). When the locking mechanisms are rotated, the frame (50) and the top (54) are elevated by the gas springs (48), permitting the top (54) to be removed leaving the frame (50) for supporting the audio mixing console (26) exposed ready for use. The frame (50) is then pulled outward forming a shelf creating room for a sound engineers legs.

The transporting system for items of luggage comprises a rolling mechanism (10) and at least one item of luggage or case element (20), the rolling mechanism (10) having a wheel arrangement (11), a pulling device (12) and fastening means (13) for releasably connecting the item of luggage (20) to the rolling mechanism, and is characterized in that the fastening means (13), on the one hand, are connected to the rolling mechanism and, on the other hand, can be fixed in a releasable manner in an interior of the item of luggage (20). The fastening means may comprise, for example, touch-and-close fastener strips (13) which can be introduced into the interior of the item of luggage through slots (22) made in a rear wall (21) of the item of luggage (20), and can be fixed there on a touch-and-close fastener strip.

Abstract: Removable large wheels for a luggage case, having two permanent sleeves inserted in holes drilled in pre-existing mounting blocks which contain pre-existing small wheels. Two axles, one in each of the sleeves, with a permanent stop at the inner end of each axle and a fastener at the outer end of each axle. The large wheels have an extended tubular part at the hub of the inner side of each wheel which prevents the wheel from touching the outer edge of the luggage. The axle can be extended outward to accept the large wheel, which is kept in place by a fastener at the outer end of each axle; or, when not in use, the axle can be retracted back into the sleeve and the wheels stored in pockets on the exterior of the luggage case. The axles are prevented from sliding part way back out of the sleeves by a fastener at a point just outside the inner end of the sleeve, and kept from slipping all the way out by a stop which is permanently affixed to the inner end of the axle and is of the same diameter as the sleeve.

Abstract: A convertible travel case has a frame including an upright with a handle for grasping and a base with wheels for towing. A rigid case is mounted on the frame by a connector bracket having one portion pivotally connected with an upper part of the case and another portion slidably connected with the upright to permit the case to be shifted between a generally vertical storage position and a generally horizontal cart position. The frame and case have mating catch members at the bottom of the case. A releasable lock connects the connector bracket and the upright in a first raised position wherein the catch members are engaged to retain the case in the storage position, and a second lowered position wherein the catch members are disengaged and the lower end of the case is swung outwardly away from the frame with the connector bracket shifting downwardly along the upright to the cart position for supporting additional luggage on top of the case.

Abstract: A case system and method includes a first case and a second case. The first case has wheels and an extendable handle having two handle shafts. The second case has two parallel grooves which receive the two handle shafts. The second case also has two latches which lock the two handle shafts in place within the two parallel grooves, so that the two case are secured together and may be wheeled about as a single unit. In a second embodiment of the invention, the first case has a top half and a bottom half, the top half being removable from the bottom half. When the bottom half is stacked on top of the top half, two cavities in the top half receive the two wheels of the bottom half so that the bottom half resides in a level orientation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for regulating the contact force between two frictionally-engaged torque-transmitting components of a motor vehicle drive system. A contact force between an endless torque-transmitting device and a pair of conical disks of a continuously variable transmission is determined by an adjusting value that is a function of a preliminary adjusting value and a regulator output value. The preliminary adjusting value is determined by the value of at least one operating parameter of the drive system, and the regulator output value is determined by comparing the actual value of an operating parameter with a target value of the operating parameter.

Abstract: A luggage article including first rollers (44, 46) and selectively deployable or non deployable second rollers (52, 54). The luggage article includes a handle (26) that is movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The user can selectively deploy or not deploy the second rollers even when the handle is in the extended position. An improved detent device and also an improved caster system (200) are also disclosed. Also, a wheeled panel mechanism by itself for use not only with luggage but also other articles such as carts, dollies and baby carriages, is disclosed.

Abstract: A retractable luggage wheel is described. A container (e.g. luggage) wheel control mechanism includes a container handle mechanically coupled to a container, configured to expand and compress, and a container wheel mechanically coupled to the container handle and responsive to movement of the container handle, configured to extend from the surface of the container when the container handle is expanded and to retract from the surface of the container when the container handle is compressed. Advantages of the invention include more compact luggage storage, easier luggage handling, and reduced damage to luggage wheels.

Abstract: Methods and wheel assemblies for supporting a bag that is tilted and pulled along a surface. A wheel housing, a strut member, a spring member, and a wheel member are provided. The wheel housing is rigidly attached to a bottom edge of the bag. The strut member is mounted within the housing for movement between first and second positions. The spring member is arranged between the wheel housing and the strut member to oppose movement of the strut member from the first position to the second position. The wheel member is rotatably attached to the strut member such that at least a portion of the wheel member extends out of the wheel housing as the strut member moves between the first and second positions. The wheel member engages the surface and rotates to allow the bag to roll along the surface when the bag is tilted and pulled. The strut member is substantially vertically aligned when the bag is tilted and pulled and when the strut member moves between the first and second positions.

Abstract: A foldable wheeled traveling case assembly includes a soft traveling case and a base formed from a rear wheel support and a front leg member. The leg member is fixedly connected to a lower front side of a rigid bottom plate of the traveling case and includes two rearward extended horizontal bars for detachably connecting to two connecting brackets mounted to a front side of the wheel support. When the bottom plate is turned to an extended position, the horizontal bars and the connecting brackets are firmly joined for the base to support the traveling case; and when the horizontal bars are disengaged from the connecting brackets, the bottom plate may be turned upward to bear against the traveling case and thereby reduces an overall volume of the wheeled traveling case assembly.

A grip has an inner wall, a bottom round hole, a threaded hole, an end groove, and an end opening communicating with the end groove. An oblong block has an end pillar. The shaft is inserted through the center aperture. A bolt is inserted through the threaded hole and the annular groove. The turret is inserted through the bottom round hole. A spring and the oblong block are inserted in the end groove of the grip.

Abstract: A portable and slidable bag/box comprises an article holding body which is provided in the interior with a receiving space and in the lower portion with at least one wheel body to roll on the ground surface. A pull rod is disposed with the article holding body to serve as a hand grip. A slide board is provided in the rear with at least one rear wheel. The slide board is connected at the front with the article holding body by a connection mechanism which enables the slide board to be folded into the article holding body and to be unfolded under the article holding body. When the side board is folded into the article holding body, the article holding body is a portable bag/box, which can be pulled to slide by a user holding the pull rod. When the slide board is unfolded under the article holding body, the user holds the pull rod to steer the portable bag/box while riding on the slide board, with one foot pushing against the ground surface.

Abstract: The traveling case with an erectly expanded case body for the present invention consists of one case body, one adjustable shaft pair, one positioning and binding base and one wheel and foot base. The outer shaft of the adjustable shaft pair passes through the shaft installation hole on the positioning and binding base and gets fixed at the rear insdie the body. A stretchable and foldable mezzanine is installed on the body that expands horizontally against the moving direction of the adjustable shaft. That is, the zipper opens and closes vertically against the movement of the adjustable shaft. Therefore, when the above case body is strecthed, the inner space is incrased and the traveling case will not topple and fall, which enhances the steadiness of the traveling case.

Abstract: A roller device of luggage case includes the luggage case having at least two retractile mechanisms with at least two rollers at each bottom side. The retractile mechanism is connected with retractable handle pivotally so that the rollers stick outside the bottom of the luggage case when the retractable handle is pulled up and completely hides within the luggage case while the retractable handle is folded up. Thus not only the luggage case has a better outlook but also the trouble of hooking with other luggage can be avoided.

Abstract: A removably attachable wheel assembly for article transporting containers is provided for transporting containers such as luggage and other objects not originally equipped with rolling wheels with a rolling means for easier travel. Plastic bases mount to the luggage with the aid of adhesive foam tape or glue. Additionally, a pull strap is connected to the luggage with the aid of an eye hook which is also attached with adhesive foam tape or glue. The rolling wheels are then snapped to the plastic bases and are maintained thereto until positively released. Various size wheels to suit the load encountered can be snapped onto the same base. If the wheels and the strap are no longer needed, they may be easily removed from the base and stored until needed again. The wheel bases and the eye hook would permanently remain with the luggage or other object.

A supplemental support device such as folding telescopical legs are attached to said desk-top shelf for providing additional support thereto in said horizontal position.

Abstract: A wheeled upright luggage case is disclosed. The best embodiment of the case has wheels to allow the case to stand upright in a stable and balanced position without attendance by the user. The case has a wheel handle to allow the user to push or pull the case across a supporting surface. The case may be pushed or pulled on either four wheels or two wheels. When four wheels are used, the full weight of the case and its contents are borne by the wheels, relieving the user from having to bear with her arm any of the weight of the luggage. The body of the case is designed to have a specific range of tilt angles from the vertical; by tilting the body of the case toward the user, the design of the case improves the stability of the case while it is pushed across a supporting surface on four wheels. Various case body configurations and push handle arrangements are disclosed.

The slide board is connected at the front with the article holding body by a connection mechanism which enables the slide board to be folded into the article holding body and to be unfolded under the article holding body. When the side board is folded into the article holding body, the article holding body is a portable bag/box, which can be pulled to slide by a user holding the pull rod. When the slide board is unfolded under the article holding body, the user holds the pull rod to steer the portable bag/box while riding on the slide board, with one foot pushing against the ground surface.

Abstract: A cart-separable traveling bag includes a traveling bag that may be easily associated with a cart to form a wheeled traveling bag with a telescopic handle to be conveniently moved around, or separated from the cart to enable full collapse of the bag and the cart into two minimized volumes that enables easy storage of the cart and the traveling bag by a use when they are not in use, and reduced warehousing and transporting costs of the cart and the traveling bag to be undertaken by manufacturers and distributors.

Abstract: The present invention provides an extension structure of a swivel wheel, which comprises a base seat and an extension rod. The base seat has a guide groove defined by a bottom face and two sidewalls. The front end of the bottom face has a projective stop block. The two sidewalls have lock grooves at the front and rear ends thereof. The extension rod has a guide rod matched and sleeved into the guide groove. The bottom of the guide rod has a groove to let the stop block abut thereon timely. Two sides at the rear end of the guide rod have tenons capable of being locked in the lock grooves timely. The swivel wheel at the front end of the extension rod can extend out a predetermined distance to obtain an extended supporting point, thereby preventing a traveling suitcase from falling down because of an unstable center of gravity.

Abstract: A luggage article including first rollers and selectively deployable or nondeployable second rollers. The luggage article includes a handle that is movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The user can selectively deploy or not deploy the second rollers even when the handle is in the extended position. An improved detent device and also an improved caster system are also disclosed. Also, a wheeled panel mechanism by itself for use not only with luggage but also other articles such as carts, dollies and baby carriages, is disclosed.

Abstract: A golf bag travel system which can be used in both a vehicle-mounted mode and a travel mode. The system includes a vehicle base adapted to be mounted to a vehicle, a travel base having wheels, and a cover which mates with both the vehicle base and the travel base. A multi-point lock releasably secures the cover to either the vehicle base or the travel base.

Abstract: A wheel assembly for use in combination with wheeled luggage to counter-balance gravitational forces exerted on the wheeled luggage when it is tilted forwarded and rolled. The wheel assembly has a shock-absorbing bias mechanism to absorb shock while transporting the wheeled luggage across a surface; a housing for the shock-absorbing bias mechanism; and a transport mechanism adjacent to the shock-absorbing bias mechanism to provide additional surface contact and load support to aid in rolling the wheeled luggage.
