The driving wheels of the towing vehicle are the front wheels. After the trailer is connected to the towing vehicle, the rear wheels of the towing vehicle are retracted vertically off of the ground shifting the combined weight of the vehicle and trailer to the front wheels of the vehicle and to the trailer wheels.

  • Patent number: 6283484
Abstract: A brake system for a wheeled walker frame having two walker frame legs with two telescopically adjustable frame tubes, of which one frame tube supports in its upper region a handle and a brake lever and the other is provided in its lower region with a brake device for braking a wheel. A telescopically adjustable brake rod is disposed within the frame tubes, between the brake lever and the brake device, and includes two parallel rods of which one is interconnected with the brake lever and the other is interconnected with the brake device. An axial longitudinal adjustment of the frame tubes to the desired vertical position synchronously causes a corresponding alteration of the length of the brake rod. At least one device is provided for locking the frame tubes and the parallel rods.

Abstract: A wheelchair side frame comprises a front side frame and a rear side frame coupled to the front side frame. The front side frame is adjustable relative to the rear side frame to vary the elevation of the rear side frame relative to the front side frame. The front and rear side frames may each have upper and lower portions. A first coupling couples the upper portion of the rear side frames to the upper portion of the front side frames. A second coupling couples the lower portion of the rear side frames to the lower portion of the front side frames. The first and second couplings are adjustable in elevation. A wheelchair may comprise a pair of side frames each including a front side frame and a rear side frame coupled to the front side frame. The rear side frames are adjustable in elevation relative to the front side frames. A pair of rear wheels supports the rear side frames and a pair of front casters supports the front side frames.

Abstract: An adjustable height wheelchair having two rear wheels which are secured to a wheelchair frame at either of two different heights. The wheelchair has left and right front frame sections, each of which has two pairs of spaced apertures. The apertures in each pair have the same predetermined spacing. Two front caster wheels are mounted on lower ends of two tube members, respectively. Each tube member has a pair of spaced apertures with the predetermined spacing. Fasteners secure the pair of apertures on each tube member to a selected pair of apertures on a front frame section based on the mounting position for the rear wheels. Optionally, a footrest or a legrest may be mounted on one or both of the front tube members.

Abstract: A table lifting and transporting mechanism with ground contact wheels, a table support portion and a mechanism for transferring the majority of the weight of the table to the wheels so that the table is supported generally at its center of gravity. The mechanism is adapted to engage the underside of the table and includes a winch for lowering its wheels into contact with the ground after positioning. The winch allows for the table to be raised after the wheels have contacted the ground, thus transferring the weight of the table from the table legs to the wheels.

  • Patent number: 6050586
Abstract: A trailer and a method for loading a trailer onto a transport vehicle. The trailer is elevated, causing a rear axle assembly of the trailer to pivot from a forward position to a position that is generally normal to the trailer frame. A front wheel axle assembly is rotated upwardly, and the trailer is then subsequently slid/or pushed along a generally planar bed surface of the transport vehicle. The end of the bed surface contacts the rear axle assembly during the sliding process, and with continuing sliding the rear axle assembly moves from a normal position to a rearward position.

  • Patent number: 6041584
Abstract: An adjustable gauge wheel support structure is provided for selectively adjusting the height of cut of a mower deck. The structure includes a gauge wheel carried on a U-shaped arm which is pivotally attached to a deck bracket. A spring loaded J-pin locking mechanism is provided to secure the arm in a plurality of positions relative to the bracket. The wheel is supported on one of the parallel legs of the U-shaped arm and twisting forces encountered by the wheel and its supporting leg are resisted through locking the two legs and bracket together with the J-pin. No tools are required to adjust the wheel height and no parts have to be removed or loosened to make the adjustments, thereby minimizing the likelihood that parts will be lost or misplaced.

Abstract: A pivotable wheel mounting system can pivot wheel mounting devices of a vehicle in a retracted position so that the vehicle conforms to a vehicle carrier volume that is in accordance with local transport laws and regulations. The pivotable wheel mounting system extends the wheels of a vehicle to positions for substantially stable support in a driving (non-transport) mode. The pivotable wheel mounting system reduces the vehicle frame volume when the vehicle is in a transport mode. The pivotable wheel system is preferably for compost treating vehicles with endless track units.
