Laterally Spaced Wheels Patents (Class 280/47.24)
  • Patent number: 11648970
Abstract: A convertible, all-terrain gear cart convertible between modes of manual propulsion, trailering, and support by a motor vehicle. A control arm with a trailer hitch connector permits trailering or manual propulsion and is pivotally coupled to a first end of a cargo bin, and a vehicle engaging member to permit support and transport by a motor vehicle projects from the second end of the cargo bin. Detachable, all-terrain wheels with lateral axes of rotation are retained at a mid-portion of the cargo bin. Cargo retention and roll bars are removably coupled to the cargo bin, and a retractable support leg can cooperate with the wheels to stabilize the gear cart. The vehicle engaging member can comprise a receiver with a mitered end forming a shelf that can be rested on a rigid tongue of a trailer hitch adapter to permit levering of the gear cart relative to a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8342543
Abstract: A method for draining and transporting large diameter hoses includes providing a frame that is movable by virtue of a pair of wheels. The center of gravity of the frame, and of the frame and a coiled hose situated on it, is located directly above the wheels. The frame includes a front toe for facilitating the rolling of a coiled segment of hose up and onto the frame. The frame includes horizontally disposed rollers that facilitate removal of the coil from the frame. The frame also includes a guide bar to assist in maintaining the coil in an upright position during transport. An attachment is removably secured to the frame to allow a portion of the hose to drape over an elevated roller to extract water from the hose and, alternatively, to allow a power-driven winding rod wind the hose into a coil.

  • Patent number: 8322746
Abstract: A cart includes a first structural member and a second structural member. The first structural member has a first portion, a second portion, and a third portion. The second structural member has a first portion, a second portion, and a third portion. A pivot pivotally connects the first portions of the first and second structural members. A force generator applies a force between the third portions of the first and second structural members. The force generator causes the first and second members to pivot toward each other. A first connector connects the first structural member to a load and a second connector connects the second structural member to the load. In this manner, the pivoting of the first and second structural members toward each other applies a lifting motion at the first and second structural members that is transferred by the first and second connectors to the load. One or more wheels may be provided to support the first and second structural members.

Abstract: Rideable luggage that can be used as either a rolling suitcase or as a baggage scooter for carrying a rider, or additional baggage. The rideable luggage has a suitcase and a platform that can be selectively deployed for holding additional baggage or a person. The deployable platform has at least one scooter wheel at an outboard end and a pair of suitcase wheels at its inboard end. A center steer wheel is connected to an extendable handle to provide steering control. When the platform is deployed, the suitcase wheels retract so that only the steer wheel and scooter wheel are in contact with the floor. When the platform is retracted, the suitcase wheels extend and are in contact with the floor along with the steer wheel.

  • Patent number: 8240683
Abstract: The invention as presently conceived discloses an apparatus that combines the maneuverability of a heavy-duty two-wheel hand truck with an integral battery-powered lifting system. The base of the sliding frame has two outriggers for enhanced stability. The apparatus is provided with a lifting platform similar to a forklift. The lifting force is provided by a winch which retracts or extends a stainless steel cable with a distal hook. Such an arrangement is capable of lifting thousands of pounds. The winch is powered by an on-board 12 volt deep cycle battery. A control panel is situated on the rear of the hand truck for battery power operation. The apparatus can be used to raise loads slightly for transport in a conventional hand truck manner; or alternatively, the apparatus can be used to lift larger equipment including small vehicles.

  • Patent number: 8201672
Abstract: An enhanced structure for the base with roller and belt of hardshell zipper case is provided, including a hardshell zipper case main body, a plurality of hidden roller units, a retractable belt unit, and an auxiliary wheel set. The hidden roller units and the retractable belt unit are placed inside the roller housing trench and the belt housing trench located at the bottom of the hardshell zipper case main body. When the hidden roller units are not in use, the roller units are entirely hidden inside the roller housing trench so that the roller unit will not be damaged due to careless handling. To move the hardshell zipper case, the outer rim of the roller units are exposed outside of the surface of the roller housing trench so that the roller units can roll along when moved. The belt of retractable belt unit can be easily pulled out from one end of the bottom of the hardshell zipper case.
