  • Patent number: 6126377
Abstract: Interlocking towing skates for placement beneath the tires of a vehicle prior to winching onto a flatbed. Two or more skates can be locked together in accordance with the tire width of the vehicle to be towed, and the interlocked skates are placed beneath each tire. The disabled vehicle can be winched quickly and easily upward along the flatbed. The friction of the tires is greatly reduced as the salvage vehicle is drawn upward, and personal injury and/or damage to the transmission and/or tow truck hoist is eliminated. The towing skates are formed as an elongate hard unitary plastic member having a chock at one end, a flat mid-section, and an opposing ramped end. A series of interlocking teeth protrude laterally from one side, and a mating series of interlocking recesses are formed in the other side for locking side-by-side skates together.

  • Patent number: 4167270
Abstract: A recreational vehicle skid support includes a pair of skids suspended beneath a vehicle in an operative position in which they are disposed slightly above a road surface, when tires of the vehicle are properly inflated, and adapted for movement in fore and aft directions relative to the direction of vehicle travel. The skids are individually fixed against rearwardly directed movement by a link chain, and resiliently constrained against forwardly directed movements by a coil spring.

  • Patent number: 4121788
Abstract: Mobile platform units for separate selective engagement with the normal ground contact elements of aircraft undercarriage components (inclusive of wheels and tires, etc.) for distributing the usual highly concentrated loadings thereof over a greater ground contact area. The mobile units have a platform supported above ground level by rolling support components that may comprise a plurality of rotatably mounted rollers, or wheels, and/or endless belt tracks disposed thereabout to collectively provide a total ground contact area which is greater than that of the aircraft ground contact element being supported. Ramp components of resilient construction are hinged to the platform in a manner providing a downturned inwardly disposed leg that is adjacent to the rotatably mounted rollers, etc. when the ramp is in a down position whereby the weight of an aircraft on the resilient ramp moves the downwardly turned leg to an interfering position providing braking action for the units.

  • Patent number: 4118043
Abstract: A bracket has symmetrical halves having indentations formed therein for accommodating the runner of a sled. The halves have transverse bores formed therethrough for accommodating a bolt for affixing them to each other on opposite sides of the runner. The lower parts of the halves are spaced from each other for rotatably accommodating a roller therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4114915
Abstract: A device which can be used to transport ski boots, poles and skis over both snow and clear terrain. It comprises an elongated member which supports wheels, a member for sliding over snow, means for supporting ski boots and means for supporting poles and skis. The device is collapsible so that its size when not being used to carry skis is substantially less than when it is in its full extended configuration.

  • Patent number: 4106786
Abstract: Recreational vehicle comprises a riding platform having provided therein a centrally disposed aperture, with a single wheel mounted in the aperture. A first pair of skid means is spaced on either side of the plane of the wheel and projects forwardly of the wheel. A second pair of skid means is spaced on either side of the plane of the wheel and projects rearwardly of the wheel. A manual support means is affixed to the platform to provide for support of a standing rider. When riding the vehicle, speed can be controlled by the rider shifting weight, with a backward shift causing the rearward skids to contact the terrain and provide a braking action.

  • Patent number: 4087106
Abstract: This three-point contact cambering vehicle with lateral and fore and aft stability comprises an upright main frame, a pair of elongated trailing arms having forward end portions pivotally connected to opposite sides of the main frame on a common lateral axis and extending rearwardly therefrom, a stabilizer connection between the arms supported by the main frame interconnecting front portions of the arms to each other so that the arms move in equal and opposite directions in response to cambering of the vehicle. The free end portions of the trailing arms support wheels or other contact means. The main frame supports a steerable front wheel or other contact operatively connected to a steering mechanism manually manipulated by a vehicle operator standing and shifting weight in a natural manner on left and right foot pads secured to the respective free ends of the trailing arms. This is a light weight vehicle providing improved stability at rest and stability and maneuverability in motion.

  • Patent number: 4082155
Abstract: A four wheeled undercarriage is mounted to a snowmobile body having a tunnel from which the endless track drive assembly has been removed. The ski-mounting brackets of the snowmobile support the front end of the snowmobile body on a front axle bolster and two steerable wheels. Steering is accomplished through one of these brackets. The rear end of the snowmobile body is supported by two suspension spring assemblies on a triangular rear wheel support frame and two rear wheels. A transversely extending undercarriage positioning bar installed in a forward portion of the snowmobile tunnel positions the forward end of the triangular support frame and adjustably positions the attitude of the front axle bolster to control the camber of the steerable wheels. A stabilizer bar between the rear support frame and the snowmobile body allows vertical movement but restricts lateral movement of the snowmobile body with respect to the rear wheels.
