Book-leaf Holders And Marks Patents (Class 281/42)
  • Patent number: 5407231
Abstract: The invention provides for "windowing" leafs of various types which retain their face and perimeter orientation when repositioned with respect to their host binder, including leafs with pluralities of surfaces, leafs with arrays of stacked repositionable notes, leafs with notepads, leafs with arrays of clips, and the like. The invention further provides for the binding of leafs which themselves may be electronic modules, each acting as a means for one of capturing, storing, accessing, displaying, and transmitting information in electronic form. Further, binding system cover is provided which offers a ring binding mechanism that is simple, light weight, and of a closed loop design available in various application specific shapes.

  • Patent number: 5382053
Abstract: A protective jacket includes a central panel and two end panels, at least one of which has a material strip easily removed by hand along a vertical perforation. This material strip has a circular opening at an end to hold a magnifying lens and a slotted portion at an opposite end which defines a tongue with which the material strip can be hung from a top edge of any page in a book. The material strip can thus be used as both a magnifying lens and a bookmark. A protective jacket according to a further embodiment of the present invention includes a plastic magnifying lens suspended from an interior surface of the protective jacket. An even further embodiment of the present invention includes a plastic magnifying lens suspended from the binding of a book. The present invention is not limited to books, but can be utilized with all types of printed materials, such as maps.

  • Patent number: 5382054
Abstract: A new book holder comprises two book receiving members and a connecting member which connects the two book receiving members together so that they can move toward and away from one another between two positions to hold respectively a small width book and a maximum width book. Each receiving member has a post member on its upper surface carrying a respective page engaging member pivoted thereon and spring biased to be movable between a position in which it contacts the surface of the respective book receiving member, and one in which it can contact the upper surface of the uppermost page of a book resting on the book receiving member. Preferably each page engaging member is of U-shape and is of springy wire material, so that it can flex to assist in urging the page engaging member into contact with the holder surface. • Patent number: 5380043
Abstract: A blank book attachment having a mark and sweep leaf with a fold out feature is provided. The leaf is pivotably retained along one edge on a frame, and the frame is pivotably retained at the binding spine of the host blank book. Pulling outward on the leaf causes the leaf to extend out and beyond the pages of the book allowing the pages to turn freely. When the leaf is placed within the host book, with the book open or closed, the leaf can be turned as a page, in which case it also acts as a mark to identify a specific position in the host book. Alternatively, the leaf may be pivoted on the frame to allow the host book pages to be turned past it in either direction.

  • Patent number: 5375885
Abstract: A combination bookmark and page prop device having a first elongated arm and a second elongated arm connected, end-to-end by a hinge. A space is created between the respective connected ends of the support arms so that rotation of the support arms in one direction about the hinge results in an abutting relationship between the arms creating a positive stop wherein the respective support arms are positioned at an angular relationship of approximately 80.degree. to 100.degree.. Each support arm is placed upon an opposed page of a bound document to prop it open. The respective support arms can be rotated about the hinge until they are fully extended, end-to-end, to function as a flat bookmark. The support arms can be further rotated about the hinge until the support arms are aligned parallel to one another to form a relatively flat bookmark approximately one-half the length of the fully extended marker. The support arms are constructed from a clear material to allow viewing of printed material through the arms.

  • Patent number: 4907825
Abstract: A sheet including a layer of flexible polymeric material having a coating of repositionable pressure sensitive adhesive on a second end portion that is generally transparent when adhered to a substrate, while being free of adhesive along a visually distinctive first end portion. A pad of the sheets in a stack with adjacent ends of the sheets aligned and with the first and second ends of successive sheets adjacent can be disposed in a chamber partially defined by a top wall having a slot through which the first end portion of the uppermost sheet projects. Relative movement is afforded between the top wall and the uppermost sheet to afford, as the uppermost sheet is pulled through the slot, alignment of the slot with successive portions of the uppermost sheet toward its second end as those successive portions are peeled from the stack.
