Abstract: A barrier panel is formed of a first rail member and a second rail member with at least one vertical support member mounted to and extending between the first rail member and second rail member. The first rail member includes first openings spaced apart along its length. The second rail member includes second openings spaced apart along its length. Vertical cables are mounted to and extend between the first rail member and second rail member. A first end of each vertical cable is secured within one of the first openings and a second end of each vertical cable is secured within an opposite one of the second openings. End members configured to adjust tension in the vertical cables are concealed by a pair of leg members of the second rail member.

Abstract: A cover (10) is disclosed for holding objects such as papers and reports. The cover (10) is formed of a member (20) having a front cover (22), a spine (24) and a back cover (26). A first portion (32) and a second portion (38) are folded over to encapsulate a prong fastener (12). The second portion (38) is then fastened to the back cover (26) with adhesive tape (58). The first and second portions (32, 38) can be part of a fastener assembly (70) having a third portion (72) that is secured to the inner surface (62) of the back cover (26). In a modification, a flap (128) can be hinged to the side of the back cover (126).

Abstract: A foldable media holder for blocking wind includes a foldable frame and a flexible sheeted material. The foldable frame has an erect configuration and a folded configuration and the flexible sheeted material is attached to the foldable frame. The foldable frame includes first, second, third, fourth, and central elongated support members, each having first and second ends. The first and second elongated support members have first and second pivots, respectively. The first end of the central elongated support member is operatively connected to first end of the first elongated support member and the second end of the central elongated support member is operatively connected to the first end of the second elongated support member. When the foldable frame is in the erect configuration the central elongated support member is positioned substantially parallel to the third and fourth elongated support members and is about centrally positioned therebetween.

Abstract: The present invention is a foldable clipboard that generally comprises a flat board with an upper end and a lower end. Each flat board includes a writing surface and a rear surface. The foldable clipboard further includes an engagement means that engages the flat boards and an attachment means proximate the upper end of the writing surface. The plurality of folding serrations allows the clipboard to be in open and closed positions and provides a continuous and smooth writing surface when in an open position. The foldable clipboard protects the paper by providing an external cover in the closed position. The clipboard may include locking means to prevent unwanted movement and ensure a flat writing surface in an open position.

Abstract: A clipboard may be assembled from a backboard and a clip assembly by sliding the clip assembly onto the top edge of the backboard. The clip assembly and the backboard are shaped so that the clipboard assembly has a substantially continuous contour along its top edge. Specifically, the top edge of the backboard is spaced away from the remainder of the top edge in the area where the clip assembly is attached. The amount of spacing away corresponds to the thickness of a lip that depends from the clip assembly and engages the top edge or the backboard in the area where the clip assembly is attached. The clip assembly is retained on the backboard by flanged rails that engage slots in the backboard and by ramped projections that engage detents and the backboard.

The book holder includes a spine, a pair of cover panels, each of the cover panels is hingidly to the spine permitting the pair of cover panels to be rotated into an open position and to be rotated into a closed position. The book holder is adapted to receive and support an article of reading material in an open position when the book holder is open and for enclosing and protecting the reading material when the book holder is closed. A page holder assembly is provided to hold the reading material open and for marking a page. The page holder assembly can also include a line marker for marking a line of text in the reading material. In additional embodiments, an illumination means for illuminating the reading material and a magnify sheet for magnify the reading material may be provided.

Abstract: A book holder for use with automobile steering wheel is not only fastened to the rim of an automobile or truck steering wheels so as to hold printed matter and various electronic devices, but also is foldable to smaller size for storage. The book holder can also be used as a desk to read and write on it and can be installed or removed from the steering wheel within seconds. This book holder includes two built-in elastic bands to prevent unexpected book turning pages and two elastic loops for holding the pens.

Abstract: The invention relates to a sheet-retaining system for securing sheets on a sheet carrier, in particular for securing paper sheets in a cover, having a retaining and connecting device for securing at least one sheet at the sheet edge and for connecting the at least one sheet to the sheet carrier indirectly via the retaining and connecting device. According to the invention, the retaining and connecting device has a retaining bar which is connected to the at least one sheet, may possibly be subdivided into separate sections and extends along the sheet edge which is directed towards the sheet carrier.

Abstract: A desktop bible carrying case 10 is provided with an enclosure 12 having a cavity 24 formed therein. A rectangular shaped support ridge 26 is coupled in the cavity 24 to inside portions of the enclosure 12. A flexible lid 28 is provided which is pivotably coupled to a back portion of the enclosure 12. Additionally, a planar shaped desktop member 50 is pivotably coupled to the enclosure adjacent to and between the lid 28 and the support ridge 26. An elevating member 52 is pivotably coupled to an outermost end of the desktop member 50. As a result a desktop bible carrying case 10 is provided to carry a bible 60 and a pad 62 in the open area 24 until they are removed therefrom and positioned on the desktop member 50 for use.

Abstract: A media folder or book binder provided with a rotor having elastic bands stretched between pins on its opposite ends has mounting brackets which are mechanically fastened to the spine of the folder. The brackets have trunnions facing inwardly toward the opposite ends of the rotor to journal the rotor. An important aspect of the invention is that each bracket is provided with a shroud which inhibits or prevents bands from disengaging with their supporting pins as a folded sheet is removed from or installed on the rotor under a strand of the band. In effect, winding-up of the bands during relative lateral movement of a sheet still occurs, but the adverse twisting affect of enabling the bands to slip off pins is prevented. The folder has straps fixed thereto and preferably formed integrally therewith at opposite ends of the folder's spine. These straps interact with latches on the mounting brackets to firmly hold the brackets in place mechanically.

Abstract: A clip that is attached to a checkbook and that will hold the checkbook in an open condition to enable a person to enter information from the checkbook into, for example a computer, without having to hold the checkbook open with one hand. The clip has a first arm that slips onto an open checkbook and a second bar that is parallel with the first bar, with a third bar holding the first and second bars in spaced relation. The second bar has a fourth bar that is perpendicular to the second bar. The fourth bar pivots with respect to the second bar for storage.

Abstract: An improved binder formed of two cover portions made of rigid material joined together with a living hinge. A closure flap with a second living hinge joins the free ends of the cover opposite the binder spine. An improved method of attaching a pocket to the binder is also disclosed. The use of such a technique on rigid polypropylene material allows roll feeding of materials, eliminates the need for a chipboard, allows existing printing and sealing machinery to be employed in the manufacture of the binder, and provides improved durability and aesthetics at a low cost.

Abstract: A binder for storage of sheet materials, particularly large sheet materials, such as maps, blueprints and the like, in a flat configuration. An elongated frame element, which supports the sheet materials along a marginal edge in a hanging orientation, is provided with a pivoting hand grip mounted on the frame and movable between vertical and horizontal orientations. The hand grip, of which there may be more than one, enables the binder and its contents to be conveniently removed from a storage rack and re-positioned for use.

Abstract: A document holder comprising two supporting members. Each supporting member includes an upper member which is aligned with an upper part of the document, a lower member which is aligned with a lower part of the document, and a resilient member which connects the upper portion to the lower portion and which exerts a bias force to make the upper portion substantially colinear with the lower portion. The newspaper is inserted between the two supporting members such that the horizontal crease of the document is aligned or overlaps with the resilient member. The resilient member allows the document to be folded up into a smaller size to facilitate reading, and exerts a bias force to open the document after a page has been read to facilitate page turning. The supporting members may include one or more mortise and tenon joints which allow the supporting members to be disengaged and folded for compact storage.

Abstract: A telephone directory holder and binder spine is designed for use with telephone enclosures. The directory holder comprises a separable directory holder unit which may be inserted in a directory at a site distant from the binder spine which is fixed to the telephone enclosure. The holder unit further comprises cables spanning first and second cable holders. The cable is releasable at one end from a holder to permit individual cable placement within the directory. Engagement of the first and second cable holders with the binder spine secures the holder unit with directory to the binder spine. Pre-placement of the directory holder unit within the directory at an off-site location is thus provided to enhance directory replacement.

Abstract: A spine assembly (1) for a binder (20, 21, 22) comprises a base portion (2) and a lid portion (6) releasably fixable to the base portion (2), the lid (6) and base (2) portions forming a tubular spine structure when fixed together, and a plurality of elongate loops (13), each loop having two substantially parallel longer sides and two shorter ends (12, 12a), the loops (13) being positionable about the lid portion (6) of the spine so that one of the longer sides extends longitudinally within the tubular spine structure when the lid (6) is fixed to the base and the other longer side extends longitudinally of the spine and adjacent the outer surface of the lid portion (6). A slot (16) may be provided in the lid (6) to allow loops (13, 5) of different sizes (M1, M2, M3) to be simultaneously accommodated in the spine.

Abstract: A portable carrier for containing, using and displaying blueprints in an outdoor working environment includes an expandable living hinge along the centerline of a planar folio with integral handles and closure devices specifically configured restraining clamps to lock large-sized blueprints in place. The folio can thus be laid flat or posted on a wall for use in the field or folded and carried in convenient fashion using the closures and the handles and closure.

The first and second troughs (28-30) are generally semicircular in shape and are dimensioned to slidably cooperate with each other. The void (38) meets the ASTM standards for toy safety with regard to a pinching hazard.

Abstract: Cover folders having binders that securely retain the cover and inserted sheets, without the use of external fasteners. The binder is an elongated bar with an interior channel for receiving and holding a folded cover. The bar includes within the channel slanted ribs which engage the folded edge of the cover sheet along an overlapping flap. The overlapping flap of the cover sheet may be made more rigid by heat treatment and/or by a reinforcing coating.

Abstract: A directory holder adaptable for mounting in various places comprising a bed and a cover of rigid sheet material such as acrylic hingeably attached to each other at side flanges, top flange on cover, bottom flanges on bed and cover which overlap when closed forming a case, upper and lower pivoting retaining clips, and a security means to prevent easy removal of directory, referred to as basic directory holder and useful as a portable directory. An adaptation for mounting the basic directory holder on a wall comprises a wall board with mounting tabs and a pencil tray, the top edge of the basic directory holder hingedly attached to upper portion of the wall board, and a positioning brace pivotally attached to bed. The brace is adapted to be moved between first and second positions so that the basic directory holder at two distinctive positions relative to the wall board.

Abstract: A memo or check pad holder is disclosed which is designed to fit into an open shirt pocket and retain not only a memo or check pad but also writing instruments. The holder includes a cover foldable along a flexible hinge into front and back cover sections. The inside face of said one cover section includes means for retaining a memo or check pad. The opposite outer face of the same cover section includes high friction material designed to frictionally engage the inside fabric of an open pocket to resist removal from the pocket. The inside face of the opposite cover section includes parallel spacer ribs extending along the inside face of the other cover section so that when the two cover sections are folded together the spacer ribs define a spacer pocket for receiving writing instruments clipped to a free edge of the same cover section extending generally parallel to the ribs. The ribs also prevent sideways slippage of the writing instruments from the cover section.
