Abstract: A method includes receiving a payment object for payment of a certain amount owed by a first party to a second party. The payment object carries sufficient account information for the payment from an account associated with the payment object. The second party communicates the account information from the payment object and an identification of the second party for receipt by a third party; and receives in return data that is indicative of a gratuity to be charged against the account. The second party prints a document that includes the certain amount owed and the gratuity, as indicated by the data received by the second party, and presents the document for signature by the first party. The printed document preferably includes the total of the amount owed and the gratuity. The payment object may be a credit card, charge card, debit card, rebate card, or stored-value card.

Abstract: A printer 10 has a reception unit 28 for receiving print commands from a host 12, and has print heads 64, 66 capable of printing multiple colors. A data processing part 24 applies a specific colorization process according to a print command received by a reception unit 28 and generates color print data for printing multiple colors. The content of a colorization process is determined by colorization information stored in a colorization information storage unit 62. The colorization information is set by a data configuration unit 26 according to a color setup command from the host 12.

Abstract: The invention is an account management system using an adhesive transaction receipt, provided at the point of transaction, which can be directly transferred to an account register. In this system, the adhesive transaction receipt contains a printed record of information relating to the transaction, such as the transaction type and the amount of the transaction. The adhesive transaction receipt is temporarily affixed to a more complete transaction receipt and includes an adhesive so that it can be permanently attached to the account register. The adhesive transaction receipt simplifies bookkeeping and eliminates errors by relieving an account user of the requirement of entering individual transactions by hand.
