  • Patent number: 6929288
Abstract: A branch connector in a fuel pressure accumulating container is joined with a through hole formed on a peripheral wall of the pressure accumulating container. The branch connector is inserted deeply into the through hole until the distal end of the branch connector is projected from the inner peripheral wall surface of the pressure accumulating container. Thus, the internal pressure fatigue strength is improved by lowering the maximum stress value generated at the internal peripheral edge at the lower end of the branch connector.

  • Patent number: 6871880
Abstract: Apparatus and methods include an adaptor to establish a flow path through the side of a first piece of tubing (rather than the end of the tubing) into a second piece of tubing or other device. The adaptor includes a threaded head slightly larger than the hole in the side of the tubing into which it is to be inserted, and gripping portions to assist in forcing the threaded head through the opening. After the head has been inserted, a sealing element is tightened to prevent leakage. To join lay-flat tubing to drip tubing, the other end of the adaptor includes an annular barbed end; a sleeve member around the barbed end; and cooperating structures acting between the barbed end and the sleeve to move those relative to each other. Barb structures on the sleeve member cooperate with the barbed end to sealingly engage the drip-tubing end.

  • Publication number: 20040160055
Abstract: A pipe seal is disclosed which comprises a main body portion (1) adapted to be fixed to the wall (12) of a chamber, tank, or the like, a face plate (6) adapted to be secured to the body portion to surround, in use, a pipe (14) to be sealed, the body and face plate between them housing a deformable member (9) in contact with a seal (8), such that, on forcing the face plate toward the body portion, the deformable member, in use, deforms and presses the seal into sealing contact with the pipe. The design of this pipe seal allows the pipe to enter the chamber wall at an angle of, for example, up to 12 degrees from a right angle. Hence the end of a pipe could generate a cone of movement with an included angle of 24 degrees. The seal therefore permits considerable positional movement of the pipe to allow connection of the pipe to its termination point within the chamber.

Abstract: The invention relates to a fastener device for fastening to a support plate, the device being constituted by a rider having a first fork whose two branches define an internal outline designed to co-operate with a polygonal element of a junction member to be held so as to prevent said junction member from rotating, and on the other side a second fork whose two branches can be placed astride an extension portion of the junction member, which branches are bent so as to bear both against the other face of the support plate and against a terminal shoulder of the extension portion so as to urge the junction member against the stop face of the plate, thereby holding said junction member against translation.

  • Patent number: 5653284
Abstract: A method and apparatus for separately supporting and sealing a heat pipe within a heat exchanger. For support, the heat pipe with fins thereon passes through a support grid which consists of a series of rings secured or interconnected together. The fins of the heat pipe rest upon these rings of the support grid thereby supporting this region of the heat pipe. To seal these heat pipes in order to prevent any gas escape from the heat exchanger, a tubesheet with openings therein is placed over the ends of the heat pipe. These openings are oversized thus a considerable gap exists between the tubesheet and the heat pipe. This gap is covered or sealed by use of a cover disk which tightly fits around the heat pipe and spans across this gap before it is removably secured to the tubesheet. By this fashion, once the cover disk is removed from the tubesheet, it is a relatively easy task to then remove the tubesheet and the heat pipe from the heat exchanger for maintenance or repair purposes.

Abstract: A single insert is provided with a plurality of curved channels extending therethrough. Such insert allows passage of a relatively large number of cables through a relatively small area of a pressure vessel wall, and the curvature of the channels prevents a straight line path for gamma radiation. The curvature of the channels (i.e. their radius) exceeds the design minimum bend radius for cables that will be passed through the insert. The ends of the insert are conical in shape to provide increased spacing for gland nuts secured in the ends of the channels.

  • Patent number: 5534202
Abstract: Air grid systems for distributing a gas within treatment systems such as underdrain filters and contact clarifiers is disclosed. The air grid is supported from above so that it can be lowered into position and thus modified or repaired. Additionally, this feature permits retrofitting an air grid into an existing system, such as an underdrain filter, in which the bed of media overlying the underdrain is not upset by the installation. Thus, methods of installing or retrofitting air grid systems are also disclosed. In another aspect of the present invention, the air grid is comprised of an air manifold connected to air laterals by a spreader conduit that is inserted through a smooth bore in the walls of the manifold, thereby providing a simple and easy to manufacture structure that avoids problems found in prior art components.
