Abstract: A technique for securing drilling riser joints in a drilling riser string is presented. The drilling riser joints have a tubular housing that has a box configuration on one end and a pin configuration on the other end. The drilling riser string is assembled by connecting the pin end of one drilling riser joint to the box end of an adjoining drilling riser joint. A moveable ring is used to connect adjoining drilling riser joints. The moveable ring is used to drive a fastener, such as a dog, of one drilling riser joint against the adjoining drilling riser joint. The moveable ring is driven axially from a first position, where the fastener is not engaged against the adjoining drilling riser joint, to a second position where the fastener is engaged against the adjoining drilling riser joint. A latch is used to prevent the moveable ring from moving inadvertently from the second position. This prevents the drilling riser joints from disconnecting inadvertently.

Abstract: A connector is described that comprises a male connector portion that is releaseably connectable to a complimentary female connector portion. The male fluid connector portion comprises a plurality of hollow needles that are each in fluid communication with a lumen of the associated tubing. The female connector portion comprises plurality of chambers or apertures that comprise a septum seal through which a hollow needle can be passed. Tubing having a plurality of lumens is coupled to the female connector portion and each lumen is in fluid communication with one of said chambers. The male and/or female connector portions also include an alignment guide that allows the hollow needles of the male part to be uniquely aligned with the corresponding septum seals of the female part. The use of the connector for medical purposes is described.

Abstract: The invention relates to a plug-in connection for pipes and tubes, said connection a tubular plug (20) which can be respectively connected to a pipe and/or a tube with a front side thereof and can be inserted into each in a sealing manner with the other front side thereof and engaged together in a secure, axially form-fitting manner. The connecting piece (1) comprises a tube engaging ring (3) on the tube (2) thereof, which forms an engaging groove (7) in which a catch spring (24) of the plug (20) at least partially engages, the tube engaging ring (3) being embodied as a part which is separate from the connecting piece (1) and secured thereon in a form-fitting manner with little play, or fixed thereto in a form fitting or fictionally engaged manner without play. It is advantageous that the plug-in connection can be produced in an essentially simple manner and can also be subjected to an essentially higher axial load.

Abstract: A fluid flow connector comprises a connector body which carries a first connector tube having a lumen for receiving a second connector tube when the connectors are joined. The first connector tube has a lumen and a lumen wall. The first connector tube typically has an end portion that carries a plurality of circumferentially spaced, outerwardly extending lugs to engage the second connector tube when connected. The fluid flow connector is made of a plastic having a flexural modulus that is low enough to allow deformation, permitting a connected, engaging second connector to pop loose from connection with the fluid flow connector when laterally struck, rather than breaking the fluid flow connector.
