Line Pressure-responsive Patents (Class 285/306)
  • Patent number: 4443028
Abstract: A three component coupling assembly consisting essentially of plastic male and female coupling members and an annular seal. The female member has a male fitting engaging end portion formed with interior threads for cooperatively threadedly engaging a threaded male hose fitting. The remaining female coupling portion has a generally cylindrical interior periphery of a smaller diameter size defining at a position adjacent the inner end of the interior threads an annular shoulder. The interior periphery has formed therein a plurality of annularly spaced grooves extending from the outer end thereof through the annular shoulder and a corresponding plurality of correspondingly annularly spaced notches extending from the annular shoulder toward the outer end. The seal has an outer annular portion seaingly engaging an uninterrupted outer sealing surface of the shoulder and an inner annular portion extending over the notches and grooves formed in the shoulder.

  • Patent number: 4371004
Abstract: An automatic coupling device to connect a hydraulic system tractor and a tractor-drawn device hydraulic system comprises a panel secured on the tractor-drawn device and a body mounted on the tractor. The panel accommodates receiving unions with shut-off valves. The body has blind bores accommodating hollow plungers each fitted with a shut-off valve at the end face operatively engaging the union. In each of the bores, the corresponding the plunger defines a bottom chamber, the bottom chambers communicating with each other and with a branch of a pressure port provided in the body. An aperture is provided in the side wall of one of the plungers, at the end face opposite to that operatively engaging the union, to communicate the hollow of this plunger with the pressure port, and a similar aperture is provided in the side wall of the other plunger to communicate its hollow with a drain port provided in the body.

  • Patent number: 4275786
Abstract: In the several representative embodiments of selectively-operable well bore apparatus disclosed herein for dependently coupling a well tool to a suspension cable, a collapsible assembly of two or more retaining members is arranged within an enclosed chamber and operatively positioned for normally retaining upper and lower tool-support members in a position where they are tandemly coupled or interconnected. In each of the several embodiments of the invention disclosed herein, electrically-responsive securing means normally maintaining the collapsible assembly in its initial position are cooperatively arranged to be selectively failed so as to allow collapse of the retaining assembly should it become necessary to separate the cable from the well tool while it is in a well bore. Provisions are also made for admitting well bore fluids into the enclosed chamber upon collapse of the retaining assembly so as to assure release of the cable even under extreme well bore pressures.

  • Patent number: 4222590
Abstract: The present invention discloses method and apparatus for connecting together two members having mating surfaces by means of a plurality of fasteners such that equal compression forces are exerted on the members along force lines normal to a common plane. To accomplish the foregoing objectives, a plurality of pins are carried by one member and pass through bores in the opposite member. The pins are longitudinally extended simultaneously with a common internal extending force and stops are affixed to the ends extending through the second member snugly against the surface thereof. Upon release of the common extending force, all the pins attempt to restore to their original positions with equal restorative forces being equal and opposite to the common extending force applied thereto.

  • Patent number: 4190107
Abstract: Well bore apparatus is installed in a well casing on a tubular string having a packer anchored in and forming a seal within the casing. In the tubing string above the packer is a safety valve structure held open by the pressure of fluid supplied through control fluid tubing extending to the top of the well between the exterior of the tubing string and the casing. A long tubing seal structure has a lock releasable by the pressure of fluid supplied through the tubing string. The tubing seal structure is released to enable the tubing string to move freely in either direction, in response to pressure and/or temperature changes, whereby tension and compression reversals are eliminated. The tubing string above the sealing receptacle can be pulled from above the packer and other downhole structures. The hydraulic release is operable by fluid pressure to release the receptacle for longitudinal movement relative to a long sealing slick joint.

  • Patent number: 4129324
Abstract: The fluid coupling apparatus is disclosed which is adapted for connecting and disconnecting a first and a second fluid carrying member. Male and female coupling members are connected to the first and second fluid carrying members respectively. The female coupling member comprises a female internal orifice having a female radially enlarged portion in the female internal orifice of the female coupling member. The male coupling member frictionally and sealingly engages portions of the female coupling member for temporarily securing the male coupling member to the female coupling member. Flexible means is established in at least a portion of the male coupling member for radially expanding into the female radially enlarged portion upon application of fluid pressure to connect the male coupling member to the female coupling member.

  • Patent number: 4084843
Abstract: A coupling for connecting a supply conduit to a rigid or flexible extension tube, designed to carry a fluid under pressure, comprises a cylindrical housing having one end wall fastened to the conduit and another end wall formed with an opening for the insertion of an extremity of the tube. The inserted tube extremity is closely surrounded, within the housing, by one or more dished springs which can be deformed under axial pressure from an adjoining annular thrust member when the tube is filled with fluid; the pressure of the fluid may act upon the thrust member through an elastic ring, embracing the tube extremity which shifts relatively to the housing under such pressure, or directly through a gap behind that member which then operates as a piston forming a socket for the tube.
