Patent number: 7980602Abstract: A pipe fitting facilitates joining of a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe to a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe. The fitting has a HDPE body. A ring-shaped PVC insert is positioned within an inner surface of the body at one opening of the body. An inner surface of the PVC insert is threaded so that a PVC pipe that has a threaded outer surface can be screwed into the PVC insert. A compression ring is installed over the outer surface of a portion of the body that surrounds the PVC insert. Prior to installation, the inner diameter of the compression ring is smaller than the outer diameter of the portion of the body that surrounds the PVC insert. For this reason, when the compression ring is installed, the compression ring compresses the portion of the body that surrounds the PVC insert, holding the PVC insert within the body.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2008Date of Patent: July 19, 2011Assignee: Poly-Cam, Inc.Inventors: Charles Charlson, Gregory Charleson

The second opening has a square edge located adjacent to a recess in the first opening. The o-ring has an outside diameter greater than the diameter of the square edge and an inside diameter less than the diameter of the square edge when assembled. The locking pin is inside of the first and second openings, with the o-ring inside of the recess. To release the components, the locking pin is moved out of the first opening to shear the o-ring against the square edge.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2007Date of Patent: June 7, 2011Inventor: Charles T. Publication number: 20110101683Abstract: An exhaust conduit decoupler for a vehicle having a chassis and a cab mounted to the chassis comprises a first conduit coupled to the chassis and a second conduit coupled to the cab. The first conduit comprises an inlet portion, a tapered transition portion, and an outlet portion having a smaller inner cross-sectional area than the inlet portion. The second conduit comprises an inlet section, a tapered transition section, and an outlet section such that the inlet section has a greater inner cross-sectional area than the outlet section. The outlet portion of the first conduit extends through an inlet opening of the second conduit, is positioned within the inlet section of the second conduit and is spaced entirely from the inlet section of the second conduit by a gap.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 5, 2010Publication date: May 5, 2011Inventors: Gregor Reimann, Christopher M. Patent number: 7926856Abstract: A fluid conduit connector assembly includes a connector having a body with an inner surface defining a fluid channel. The connector also includes an inlet region for flow of fluid into the fluid channel, and an outlet region for flow of fluid from the fluid channel. The connector further includes an axial alignment member outward of the body, and a pair of flexible tabs arranged generally circumferentially of the alignment member and outward of the body. The connector can be configured as a day-side connector, transfer member with check valve, and/or patient-side connector. An implementation includes a day-side connector, a patient-side connector, and a transfer member, each of which has a pair of flexible tabs. The pairs of tabs are configured such that the transfer member releasably couples the day-side and patient-side connectors. A method for aseptically connecting a fluid conduit is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2007Date of Patent: April 19, 2011Assignee: Smith & Nephew, Inc.Inventors: Chad C. Smutney, P. Patent number: 7914052Abstract: A showerhead or other water-dispensing assembly (100) is joined to a supply pipe (105) by a nut (110) and a collar (135). The supply pipe terminates in male threads (130). The nut includes a distal splined projecting section (120). The dispensing assembly includes a port (145) having a splined section (155), and an inner wall (160). The collar is slid onto the pipe, the nut is screwed onto the pipe, and the showerhead is held in its desired orientation while being urged toward the nut. As the distal splined projecting section enters the inner wall, the two splined sections engaged, preventing rotation of the showerhead on the pipe. The collar is then screwed onto the showerhead until it rests against the outer shoulder of the nut, thereby completing the non-rotatable installation.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2007Date of Patent: March 29, 2011Assignee: ShowerTek, Inc.Inventor: Thomas R. Patent number: 7914048Abstract: A coupling device that provides a liquid tight seal at the connection with a conduit with easy installation. The device comprises a tubular connector body, a compression nut, a first sealing ring, a second sealing ring, a ferrule, and a lock nut. The coupling device may be installed fully assembled and does not require disassembly of the packaged product before installation. In the connector body a radial ledge is formed within the tubular spaces between the first and second ends. The radial ledge of the connector body has at least one depression. The ferrule has a tubular body with a radial flange extending from a first end portion. At least one protrusion extends from the radial flange that corresponds to the depression on the tubular body. When the depression of the tubular body engages the protrusion of the ferrule, it restricts the ferrule from relative rotation. This restriction allows that the coupling device be installed fully assembled.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2006Date of Patent: March 29, 2011Inventor: Sami Shemtov
