The set includes first and a second tubular components with an axis of revolution, one of their ends including a threaded zone formed on the external or internal peripheral surface of the component depending on whether the threaded end is of male or female type, the ends finishing in a terminal surface orientated radially with respect to the axis of revolution of the tubular components. The threaded zones include threads including, viewed in longitudinal section passing through the axis of revolution of the tubular components, a thread crest, a thread root, a load flank, and a stabbing flank, the width of the thread crests of each tubular component reducing in the direction of the terminal surface of the tubular component under consideration, while the width of the thread roots increases. The lead of the male stabbing flanks and/or load flanks is different from the lead of the female stabbing flanks and/or load flanks.

Abstract: A method for joining fluid carrying steel pipes together including the following steps. Identifying a subject pipe section to be replaced and intercepting the fluid flow by fastening stoppers inside of pipe portions upstream and downstream from the subject pipe section. Removing the subject pipe section, leaving in place upstream and downstream pipe portions. Inserting along each of the first and second pipe portions a protective stopper and chamfering the edges of those pipe portions and then mounting first and second sliding sleeves with sealing rings thereover. Removing the protective stoppers from the pipe portions and positioning between those pipe portions a new connection piece. Displacing the first and second sliding sleeves onto the connection piece so that sealing rings are arranged on the connection piece and fixing the sliding sleeves to the pipe portions and to the connection piece.

  • Patent number: 7918006
Abstract: A method for making pipe joints on successive pipe sections introduced into an oil well as assembled into a pipeline in which the joints are substantially of the same dimensions as the pipe sections to allow for subsequent plastic expansion of the sections. In each joint, a female pipe end is tapered on the inside and an adjacent male end is tapered on the outside preferably with a complementary self locking taper which also has an interference fit. The female pipe end is heated to be expanded sufficiently to be assembled onto the male end and thereafter cooled to grip the male end in a leakproof manner. For larger pipe sizes, the tapered shapes have features which interlock in a leakproof manner when engaged after assembly of the pipe ends. The tapered shapes preferably are formed by a reversibly positioned forming tool which is alternately engaged with male and female pipe ends to ensure perfectly matching shapes.
