  • Patent number: 7100948
Abstract: A tube coupling has a coupling body with a throughway open at one end to receive an end portion of a tube. A seal encircles the throughway to seal with the periphery and end of the tube and a cap is mounted on the body having a tube locking device rotatably mounted in the cap to engage and hold the tube in the cap. The cap and body have interengaging means which guide the cap on the body in an axial direction along the body with rotation of the cap from a first position in which a tube can be inserted through the cap and into the seal in the throughway and retained by the locking device and a second position advanced along the coupling body from said one end in which the tube end is held positively in engagement with the seal in the throughway. The locking device engages via a ring with the coupling body to resist rotation of the locking device with respect to the body whereby rotation of the cap between said the first and second positions does not cause the tube to rotate.

Abstract: A coupling connects a first member and a second member. The first member has a first interlocking member extending radially outward from an outer circumferential surface of an axial end. The second member includes a second interlocking member extending radially inward from an inner circumferential surface of an axial end. The axial end of the first member is inserted into the axial end of the second member, such that the first interlocking member is inserted past the second interlocking member. The first and second members are then rotated relative to one another to a locked angular orientation, in which the first interlocking member is interlocked with the second interlocking member to prevent relative axial movement of the first and second members. A key is then inserted into a keyway in the first and second members to lock the angular orientation, thereby coupling the first and second members to one another.

Abstract: A bracket system holds a filter(s) in quick-attach and quick-release fashion. Brackets are combined in modular fashion, with conduit between the brackets, to create a “bank” of filters easily changed in number, arrangement, and flow scheme. Top brackets and bottom brackets capture/support the top end and bottom end of a filter, respectively, and filter inlet and outlet ports preferably slide onto and off of cooperating tubes/ports in the bracket modules without tools or threaded connections. A retainer may pivot on and off of its respective filter, holding the filter in place and releasing the filter, respectively. After pivoting the retainer up from the filter, the filter may be lifted up off of its respective bottom module, so that the filter is substantially vertically and pivotally removable from the bracket system.

Abstract: A fluid fitting coupling system which retains two assemblies axially through the use of a flange and lip arrangement and simultaneously retains those assemblies rotationally through either a radial detent or a snap spring are shown in variations. The designs are especially configured for molding so that each might utilize the material properties available and yet be economically manufactured. Further, user features including both visual and potentially audible indications of full assembly are incorporated into the designs and automatically achieved. Shut-off valve designs are shown which are automatically delayed in opening until some axial retention occurs to minimize any blow-off or other undesirable operational events. Swivel features may be incorporated when the application requires.

Abstract: A fire-fighting tool incorporates a twist-lock mechanism whereby various nozzles can be interchanged for particular fire-fighting purposes. Included in such nozzles are a penetrating nozzle having a doubly bevelled front end for easier access through a roof, and various fluid ejection and misting elements that can be configured in terms of fluid aperture angles to produce a mist directed somewhat back towards the user, transverse to the nozzle, or forward from the nozzle. A non-penetrating embodiment of the invention also uses an end ejecting misting region. The foregoing elements can be used in conjunction with various extention wands, which are removably connectable fluid channels bent to various angles, so as to provide easier access to fires that are located within recesses of buildings, motor vehicles, or boats and the like.

Abstract: A coupling interconnects either of two conventional types of waste water outlets used to discharge waste water from a waste water holding tank of a recreational vehicle with a discharge hose to convey the waste water to a remote location. A sleeve of the coupling penetrably engages an internal cylindrical surface in either outlet and is of a common diameter to concentrically locate the coupling irrespective of differences in the external size of the outlets. A pair of hooks extend from the coupling to engage dogs extending radially from either engaged outlet to retain the coupling in place. A seal seals the junction between the coupling and the outlet to prevent leakage of waste water therebetween. The discharge hose is connectable in fluid communication with the sleeve to convey the waste water from the coupling.
