Patent number: 4240655Abstract: A flange compression pipe coupling wherein the end portions of the pipes to be coupled are surrounded by an inner jacket consisting of ductile metallic material. The inner jacket is surrounded by a radially deformable outer jacket which is biased against the exterior of the outer jacket by two flanged rings having conical internal surfaces. The outer jacket causes plastic deformation of the inner jacket until the latter sealingly engages the end portions of the pipes whereupon the extent of plastic deformation of the inner jacket remains unchanged.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1978Date of Patent: December 23, 1980Inventors: Andreas Rascher, Jurg Zbinden

Patent number: 4214793Abstract: A plate segment for insertion in a hole, cavity or recess to position and/or lock a shaft-like portion of an object within and/or with reference to its bounding wall structure has preferred embodiments comprising plate segments formed of sheet metal in a stamping operation including tooth-like projections. Depending upon the embodiment the tooth-like projections may extend from either or both faces of the plate segments and/or its lateral extremities. The tooth-like projections are formed to provide teeth portions of which are skewed to facilitate the application and anchoring of the segment. In a particularly preferred configuration the plate segment comprises a leading end, a trailing end and side edge portions, the roots of which side edge portions are generally parallel and bound a main body portion of the plate segment which is curved on a uniform radius, in a lateral sense, to provide that the respectively remote faces thereof are formed to resemble a longitudinal portion of a cylindrical surface.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1977Date of Patent: July 29, 1980Inventor: Robert J. Patent number: 4209661Abstract: A clamping device comprising an elongated wedge body having a bifurcated end, and a second end opposite the bifurcated end. The wedge body is of substantially rectangular transverse cross-sectional configuration, and is relatively thick at the second end, tapering to a relatively thin dimension at the bifurcated end. The wedge body has first and second sides extending between its bifurcated and second ends. Each of these sides carries a plurality of longitudinally spaced, contiguous teeth or serrations over a major portion of its length. The bifurcation in one end of the wedge body defines a pair of spaced, substantially parallel legs, which legs have continuations of the teeth or serrations extended along one side thereof, and are relatively smooth on the opposite side thereof. In a useful combination, the clamping device retains an electrical conductor in place at the location where it enters a knock-out window in a synthetic resin electrical box.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1978Date of Patent: June 24, 1980Assignee: Indian Head Inc.Inventors: Harold T. Patent number: 4108478Abstract: In a rotary drilling system for drilling deep, large-diameter bore holes in the earth, using multiple lengths of drill pipe joined together by threaded tool joints, the improvement in means to prevent relative rotation while joining and unjoining the two parts of the threaded-together tool joints, after the tool joints has been made to a desired torque, comprises a retaining cylinder or ring, of somewhat larger diameter than the diameter of the tool joints, positioned to surround a tool joint with an annular space of a selected radial dimension. There is at least one pair of longitudinally slidable cams or wedges that slide within longitudinal grooves on the inside surface of the retainer ring. Hydraulic means are provided to move the pair of wedges longitudinally toward each other, along the sloping grooves until they are wedged between the retaining ring and the outer surface of the tool joint, one wedge opposite each part of the tool joint.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 1977Date of Patent: August 22, 1978Assignee: Fenix & Scisson, Inc.Inventor: Paul E. Patent number: 4082094Abstract: A locking device for a tubing connection used in intravenous feeding. The invention comprises a body with a channel therein adapted to receive a tubing connection. The body is resiliently compressible transverse to the channel. To secure the locking device against a tubing connection, the body is compressed and a retainer installed. Once in place, the locking device prevents separation of the intravenous tubing connection between a vein insert tube and the termination of an intravenous supply tube. Installation and removal of the locking device is readily effected, thus permitting secure connection and ready separation of an intravenous fluid line without pulling or twisting.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1976Date of Patent: April 4, 1978Inventor: Calvin L.
