Abstract: In a wheelset press for pressing or pulling wheels, brake disks or the like on/off axles (RA) of rail vehicles, two piston/cylinder units are directed toward one another and stationarily arranged on a common straight line, wherein said piston/cylinder units serve for exerting the required pressing power and, if applicable, for displacing the axle in its longitudinal direction to bring about the pressing-on or pulling-off process. Pressure pistons are provided on the piston/cylinder units to transmit the pressing power onto the facing end of the axle. At least one press abutment for supporting a wheel, a brake disk or the like during the pressing process is designed in such a way that it can be transferred into its support position by means of a relative movement of the axle transverse to its longitudinal direction and otherwise situated outside the press area. The at least one press abutment can be fixed in different positions along the axle.

Abstract: Apparatus for inserting a lens into the eye opening of an eyewear frame front includes a lens-seating surface on which a lens is placed. The lens-seating surface is reciprocally movable within a lower block. An upper block is reciprocally movably along a common vertical axis with respect to the lower block such that the upper block can be alternately raised and lowered relative to the stationary lower block. The upper block releasably carries a stretching cone which is placed on top of the lens on the lens-seating surface; the upper block is then raised while leaving the cone on the lens, and the eye opening of a heated front frame is placed over the stretching cone. The upper block is again lowered to capture the frame portion surrounding the eye opening, and the lens-seating surface is raised to force the cone through the eye opening.

  • Patent number: 5499755
Abstract: A precision alignment apparatus that automatically welds together the parts of a cut-apart torque converter. A precision cast and machined frame is provided onto which are mounted a spindle assembly, a double-end air cylinder and a turntable which are aligned within a close tolerance along a longitudinal axis. The spindle assembly grabs and aligns the upper half of the torque converter. The double-end air cylinder moves the spindle assembly along the longitudinal axis and provides for the longitudinal alignment of the torque converter parts. The turntable supports and aligns the lower torque converter half. The apparatus provides for automatic welding of the first part to the second part while alignment is maintained by the spindle assembly and the turntable. During welding the turntable and the spindle assembly rotate about the longitudinal axis to move the torque converter past the stationary welding device.
