  • Patent number: 4629054
Abstract: A slider supplying apparatus, for use with a slide-fastener finishing machine, includes a rail for slidingly supporting a number of sliders in succession from a reservoir, with the opposite wings of each slider body astride of the rail and with a pull tab hanging from the slider body, and a chute defining a guide channel for passage therethrough of the slider bodies and having an upper end portion disposed adjacent to a free end portion of the rail for receiving the successive sliders therefrom. The upper end portion of the chute has a sloping edge engageable with the pull tab of each slider, as the latter slides forwardly on the free end portion of the rail, so as to raise the pull tab perpendicularly to the slider wing. The chute also has a guide slit coextensive with the guide channel for receiving the pull tab of each slider in such raised posture while the slider body is in the guide channel.

  • Patent number: 4604782
Abstract: A pair of separable slide fastener stringers is fed along in one plane along parallel spaced paths, respectively, toward throats of a Y-shaped guide channel in a slider fixed in position. Pins of the stringers are inserted into the guide channel through the throats, respectively. The pins as they emerge from a rear end of the slider are stopped when rows of coupling elements start intermeshing with each other within the guide channel. The separable slide fastener stringers are moved again at the same speed to bring the rows of coupling elements into intermeshing engagement.

  • Patent number: 4495686
Abstract: A method and apparatus for attaching sliders and bottom stops to a slide fastener chain having longitudinally spaced gaps free of fastener elements, in which the chain is conveyed forwardly until a gap is detected. The chain is stopped and the gap area widened. A rotor movable beneath the chain is adapted to carry a slider and is also formed with a die plate portion. The rotor rotates to deliver the slider to the gap, thread the slider onto the fastener elements of the chain, and place the die plate beneath the gap across from bottom stop punch and chain cutter means which then fix a bottom stop to the chain and separate adjacent fastener element ends.

  • Patent number: 4490899
Abstract: The two coupling member supporting bands are led between a guide block and two clamping members in a vertical position and having the coupling members located at the lower side. The coupling members are aligned with the path of cutting members by means of a countersupport having two gripping members and positioned relative to the cutting members by means of a scanning apparatus. The clamping members clamp the supporting bands as well as the coupling members which are to be removed. After the coupling members have been clamped by the clamping members, the cutting members sever the coupling members at their foot section and thereafter the cut coupling members are pulled off the supporting band by means of the countersupport and the clamping members. This allows an impeccable cutting of the coupling members and that all cut coupling members can be drawn off the supporting band.

  • Patent number: 4466168
Abstract: A method and apparatus for feeding sliders to a slider pocket are disclosed. Sliders taken from the pocket are assembled on the fastening element sections of an uncut fastener chain which is moved and stopped intermittently to allow the assembly of the sliders wherein sliders longitudinally aligned and delivered by a slider chute are fed into a slider holder one at at time. The slider holder carrying a slider received from the chute is transferred to a slider assembling station from a direction at right angles to the direction of fastener chain transfer, and the slider is loaded at the slider assembling station into the slider pocket which is provided at the upper end of a slider pocket block raised from the direction at right angles to both the fastener chain transfer direction and slider transfer direction, and the slider holder is returned to the exit of the slider chute. These steps are repeated in synchronism with the stopping of movement of the uncut fastener chain.

  • Patent number: 4368570
Abstract: A method of attaching top and bottom stops to a slide fastener chain at one and the same stage of manufacture. The fastener chain is moved along a path until a trailing end of a preceding pair of coupling element groups arrives at a first fixed die, by which time leading end portions of a succeeding pair of coupling element groups are disengaged from each other. With the trailing end of the preceding pair of coupling element groups retained at the first die, an adjacent pair of opposed blank tape portions is sagged until the endmost disengaged coupling elements arrive at a second fixed die spaced a predetermined distance from the first die along the path. Finally, a bottom stop and a pair of top stops are attached concurrently and respectively to the trailing end of the preceding pair of coupling element groups at the first die and to the disengaged endmost portions of the succeeding pair of coupling element groups at the second die. An apparatus for carrying out this method is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4337877
Abstract: An apparatus for supplying slide fastener sliders comprises a track for carrying thereon the sliders stacked sideways with their respective pull tabs arranged in the recumbent position for gravity delivery of the sliders to a groove in a base. A slider retainer is engageable with the recumbent pull tab of the leading slider for retaining the same with the slider body position so as to release the same from engagement with the slider retainer, and substantially at the same time to allow the leading slider to fall in the groove. A feeding device feeds the slider in and along the groove to a predetermined position. The apparatus further comprises an arrangement for correcting the posture of the slider to have the pull tab raised substantially perpendicularly to the slider body wings.

  • Patent number: 4135285
Abstract: A slide fastener slider is assembled from a stock of slider bodies, pull tabs and springs with apparatus which loads a body on an anvil at a loading station, moves the anvil to an assembly station and at the assembly station positions a pull tab to receive the lugs on the body therein, inserts a spring over the pull tab trunnion and between the lugs, the tip ends of the lugs thereafter being clenched to fixedly secure the spring to the body. The assembled slider is then ejected from the anvil to a collection point. In a further embodiment, the slider body instead of having lugs between which the spring is received and the tip ends of which are clenched to hold the spring, has lugs with recesses at the outer side surfaces thereof. The wing-like sides of the spring are inserted over the tip ends of such lugs with a spreading action until the spring sides snap into the recesses to secure the spring to the body.
