    Abstract: A drill-chuck jaw is made by first forming an elongated metal body with a toothed back face and a front face, then machining a longitudinally extending groove having sides and a floor in the front face, and forming inwardly projecting and longitudinally spaced retaining bumps on the groove sides. A hard-metal insert is fitted into the groove between the retaining bumps and then bonded to the body in the groove. the body is heat-treated, that is annealed, before machining the groove in it to reduce internal stresses. Then the body is cleaned and oiled to prepare it for machining and to eliminate any oxidation created by the heat treatment. After machining the body and before fitting the insert the body is deburred and cleaned again. Normally the insert is bonded to the body by soldering or brazing In order to allow the insert to seat directly on the jaw and not be held off it by the solder a channel is formed between the insert and the body in the groove.

Following the positioning of the end caps, the coating is applied to the core member in a continuous process by passing a series of core members with their end caps in a substantially end-to-end configuration through a cross head die.

    Abstract: A method of making a balloon expandable braided stent with a restraint to initially prevent self-expansion and the resulting product. Multiple strands of a resilient metal or plastic are braided to form a tubular configuration of a predetermined outside diameter which assumes a lesser diameter when the tubular stent is longitudinally stretched. When in its stretched condition, it is coated with a polymeric material which is then cross-linked to effectively “freeze” the intersections of the braided structure holding it in its reduced diameter configuration. The tubular stent is designed to be placed within a body vessel using a balloon stent delivery catheter. When the balloon surrounded by the braided wire stent is inflated, the stent expands initially to an extent to break the bonds of plastic material between the intersections of the strands, thereby permitting self-expansion to take place.

The seal includes a vertical wall that rises from the glass shelf to creates a reservoir that will contain a spill and confine the spilled liquid to the shelf surface. The seal can be formed by an extrusion process, molded as a separate component or molded to the edge of the glass shelf.

    Abstract: Apparatus and method for the fabrication of semi-flexible artificial rock sheathing; a one-coat silicone elastomer is brushed or sprayed upon the surface of a substantially flat natural rock formation to form a mold that is adhered to a wood-framed fiberglass cradle that hold the shape of the mold; when removed from the rock formation, the mold is sprayed with a thermoplastic elastomer to form a semi-flexible rock sheathing having the same characteristics as the natural rock surface from which the mold was formed; after the materials are fully cured, the sheathing sheet may be separated from the mold and used for the fabrication of rock, rock structures, by attaching sheathing sheets to the exterior of a framework, followed by cutting and forming different shapes.

    Abstract: The method of forming a seamed metal tube having a metal coating of this invention includes applying a metal coating to the upper face of a metal strip prior to welding. The strip is then formed into an open seam tube and welded, preferably in a non-oxidizing atmosphere with the seam preferably located in the lower portion of the tube. Finally, at least a lower portion of said tube is reheated with the seam located in the lower portion of the tube, thereby causing the metal coating to flow downwardly over the seam, coating the seam. In one embodiment, the strip is preformed into an arcuate shape and coated, wherein the metal coating increases in thickness toward the lateral strip edges, such that the coating will flow over the seam following welding. The inside coated seamed tube may also be immersed in a galvanizing or metal coating bath to coat the outside of the tube.

    Abstract: A burner for a gas grill is inexpensive and durable. The burner may be made of an inexpensive sheet steel, but the steel is fully porcelainized or otherwise treated to resist corrosion. The complete coverage of the porcelain is accomplished by making the burner in two halves, and porcelainizing all surfaces of the two halves. The two halves are subsequently assembled into a single burner. Each half has flanges extending therefrom, and a channel engages the flanges to hold them together. Screws or other fastening means can be used to secure the channel to the flanges. In one embodiment of the invention the channel is integrally formed with one of the burner halves. One or both halves of the burner may also be made of a durable metal without the anticorrosive treatment.

The metal fastener clips are deformed around the reinforcement steel members to close the open side of the metal fastener clips, thereby securing the reinforcement steel members together in a desired formation. The free ends of each fastener clip preferably overlap each other after the fastener clips are closed around the reinforcement steel members.
