Abstract: The process can include obtaining a rectangular aluminum panel size; obtaining a cast aluminum ingot having a length and width housing said aluminum panel size; sawing the annealed aluminum ingot along its length and across its width, thereby yielding a plurality of aluminum panels having said aluminum panel size and a given plate thickness; and cutting the plates across the thickness of the aluminum panels.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a golf club head is disclosed herein. The method includes using four pieces to manufacture a golf club head with greater benefits than the prior art. The method includes tacking an aft-body to a face component prior to welding.
Abstract: A gas turbine rotor and a method for manufacturing a gas turbine rotor having integral blading, is disclosed. A rotor blade has a blade pan and a blade footing connected to the blade pan. The blade footing is designed with a V-shaped cross section in at least some portions and the blade footing is welded to a rotor mount by capacitor discharge welding.
Abstract: A method (20) of fabricating a large component such as a gas turbine or compressor disk (32) from segregation-prone materials such as Alloy 706 or Alloy 718 when the size of the ingot required is larger than the size that can be predictably formed without segregations using known triple melt processes. A sound inner core ingot (12) is formed (22) to a first diameter (D1), such as by using a triple melt process including vacuum induction melting (VIM), electroslag remelting (ESR), and vacuum arc remelting (VAR). Material is than added (26) to the outer surface (16) of the core ingot to increase its size to a dimension (D2) required for the forging operation (28). A powder metallurgy or spray deposition process may be used to apply the added material. The added material may have properties that are different than those of the core ingot and may be of graded composition across its depth. This process overcomes ingot size limitations for segregation-prone materials.
Abstract: A separator plate useful in a wet-type multiplate clutch is provided on a friction surface thereof with elongated asperities extending with regularity in a predetermined direction. Peak portions of the elongated asperities, said peak portions being to project toward a counterpart member when the separator plate is assembled in the wet-type multiplate clutch, have been removed to form elongated plateaus. The separator plate can be manufactured by fixedly mounting a blank for the separator plate on a work support, forming elongated asperities with regularity in a predetermined direction on one of opposite surfaces of the blank by a grinding wheel, and then removing peak portions of the elongated asperities, said peak portions being to project toward a counterpart member when the separator plate is assembled in the wet-type multiplate clutch, to form elongated plateaus.
Abstract: A method of salvaging a cast article by correcting the dimensional characteristics of the cast article and forming a protective coating. The dimensional differences are determined between pre-repair cast article dimensions and desired post repair cast article dimensions to correct a casting defect in the article. The determination may be made by determining the location and approximate volume of a void in the surface of the article. The determination may also be made by determining an amount of buildup volume required to make at least a portion of the surface of the cast article built up to the desired post repair dimensions. The article is coated in at least an area of the casting defect with a high-density coating material capable of forming a diffusion boundary between the coating material and the article. The coating material may comprise an alloy with substantially no oxide forming constituents so as to avoid the formation of oxide inclusions in the coating material.
Abstract: A continuously cast copper ingot is made by a procedure in which turbulence is imparted to the metal/solid interface during the casting operation. The ingot is then hot worked to form a billet having a smaller average grain size and a larger diameter than possible in the past. The billet is especially useful for making electroplating anodes used in the damascene process for making copper interconnects in silicon wafers.
Abstract: A process and equipment is disclosed for the production and use of precursor material in the continuous production of large diameter bars for semi-solid forming. The invention discloses the production and use of precursor material for the semi solid formation of light non-ferrous metals, non-ferrous copper-based alloys and metal matrix composites (MMC) based on the above metals. The inventive process and equipment allows extrusion of material bars with a negative extrusion ratio for use in semi-solid forming.
Abstract: A booster equipped carburetor in which the venturi bores in the carburetor have an enhanced drop leg booster therein. The drop leg booster has a venturi orifice and a “bent” channel member. The channel member communicates fuel to the venturi orifice and positions the venturi orifice below a second end of the channel member within a venturi bore of the carburetor. The channel member preferably has smooth sides to assure consistent flow without undue turbulence.
