Abstract: A machine tool including a rotary table to which a workpiece to be subjected to machining is attached, a motor that rotates the rotary table, a brake that places the rotary table in a clamping state or an unclamping state, a valve that controls fluid supplied from a fluid supply source to the brake for placing the brake in the clamping state or the unclamping state, and a controller that controls the motor and the valve, where the controller determines whether or not rotation of the rotary table by the motor should be executed on the basis of a signal from a pressure switch of a regulator provided between the fluid supply source and the valve.
Abstract: Compact plant for making steel bars and profiles with which, starting from the scrap, it is possible to obtain the finished product, for example bars with commercial length from 6 to 18 meters, pre-packed, packaged and ready for sale, with all the stations placed in line and operating continuously. All the stations are arranged in reduced spaces, thereby reducing both investment costs and plant management costs, and decreasing production times. Advantageously, the plant of the invention incorporates an extremely compact bar packaging apparatus which, through an innovative arrangement and innovative operating method of the components thereof, allows a further reduction in length.

Abstract: An electric motor can drive a workpiece and a tool simultaneously at speeds in a ratio adjustable at will. The workpiece is driven via two pulleys and a belt, while the tool is driven via further pulleys and a belt from a hydraulic circuit comprising a pump coupled to the electric motor and a hydraulic motor. The pump is preferably of the variable-capacity type so that its flow can be modified independently of the speed of the electric motor.

Abstract: A lathe whose hollow horizontal work spindle has a rear end portion extending from the headstock and carrying the chuck actuating mechanism. A discrete prime mover at the outside of the headstock transmits torque to the end portion of the work spindle through a separable transmission whose case is centered by a collar provided at the exterior of the headstock and surrounding the end portion of the work spindle. The transmission has an input element which receives torque from the prime mover, e.g., through a clutch or coupling, and a set of toothed members one of which is removably mounted on the end portion of the work spindle and another of which meshes with the one toothed member and is driven by the input element. The transmission can constitute a variable-ratio gear transmission, a constant-ratio gear transmission or a belt transmission wherein the second toothed member is an internally toothed belt.
