    Abstract: In order to waterproof a plurality of wires which constitute a wire harness passed through a through hole formed in a grommet, a lower mold is provided with a first recessed portion, and an upper mold is provided with a second recessed portion. The first recessed portion and the second recessed portion define a cavity when the upper mold and the lower mold are integrated, such that a cross section of the cavity is substantially identical with a cross section of the through hole formed in the grommet. The wires are placed on the first recessed portion of the lower mold. Then, the wires are coated with a water stop agent. Further, the wires are applied with vibration so as to permeate the water stop agent into a gap between the wires. The upper mold and the lower mold are integrated such that a cross section of the wire harness is matched with a cross section of the cavity. The water stop agent permeated into the wires is solidified.

    Abstract: A pressure welding device for wiring and a wire harness manufacturing method are provided. The pressure welding device for wiring includes a pressure welding unit for pressure-welding wires to connectors and a wiring plate provided with wiring fittings and placed in a position toward which the wires are pulled from the pressure welding unit. The wiring plate and the pressure welding unit are movable in a wire pulling direction. Wires are pressure-welded to one connector by the pressure welding unit. As the connector is pulled toward the wiring plate so as to hook the wires by predetermined wiring fittings. The wires are then pressure-welded to the other connector. After the wires are pressure-welded to the other connector, a continuity test of the wire harness is conducted on the wiring plate. After the wiring, the wiring plate and the pressure welding unit are moved in a wire pulling direction so as to eliminate the slack of the wires.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for fabricating uniform splices for stranded cables. A joint for a stranded cable can be formed by inserting the ends of two cables into an electrically conductive splice band which, in turn, is inserted into a coil or inductor. The splice is fabricated by a process known as magnetic pulse forming, or magnetic pulse welding wherein a very large electrical current of short duration is directed through the coil or inductor from a charged capacitor bank. The resulting magnetic field in the coil or inductor induces a magnetic field on the splice band, compressing the splice band uniformly around the circumference of the two cable ends being spliced. In the case of magnetic pulse welding, the splice not only uniformly compresses the stranded cables, but a weld is also created between the inner diameter of the sleeve and the adjacent stranded cables.

    Abstract: A cable having at least two twisted wire pairs, each of the wires in the twisted wire pairs having wire jacket with a respectively different color, is automatically assembled by automatically detecting the colors of the wire jackets and automatically positioning the wires of the twisted wire pairs in a predetermined sequence based on the colors of the wire jackets. A machine vision system is used for detecting the colors of the wire jackets. A connector is then automatically attached to the automatically positioned wires. The connector may be a 110 connector, a D8GS connector, an RJ45 connector or an RJ11 connector.

    Abstract: A cable finishing and testing machine incorporates an electrical resistance testing station in a single automated process. The cable finishing and testing machine utilizes a conveyor belt to keep a terminated cable in an outstretched orientation as a trailing terminal of the terminated cable laterally transfers from one processing station to the next. A free or leading terminal of the terminated cable, being in a known sliding orientation upon the belt, is easily located and electrically engaged by a pick-up clamp device. A first indexing station electrically engages the trailing terminal and the electrical resistance of the terminated cable is measured. If the terminated cable tests bad, the terminated cable is automatically transferred to a second indexing station where it is destroyed and scrapped.

    Abstract: The tool is for facilitating installation of a conventional cable connector to the end section of a conventional coaxial cable. The tool has a permanently T-shaped handle defining a handle grasping segment and a handle spacing segment integrally attached to the handle grasping segment at a right angle thereto. A tool fastening sleeve is attached to the handle spacing segment. The tool fastening sleeve has an external thread adapted to engage to the internal thread of the fastening sleeve which is part of the conventional cable connector. The tool fastening sleeve also has a tool fastening sleeve channel for receiving a segment of the inner conductor extending through the conductor fastening sleeve and protruding from the proximal edge of the connector fastening sleeve. The tool is adapted to be releasably secured to the conventional cable connector and used to ergonomically push the latter within the end section of the cable.

    Abstract: A frame jig for a connector is provided in order to be able to easily confirm the kinds of electric wires to be inserted in a connector and the installation locations. The other end of the sample wires inserted into recesses formed in sides of the holder, and locking members are inserted into the side recesses.     Abstract: An applicator die for crimping open loop type terminals to wire leads comprising applicator housing, a plurality of blades and a plurality of housing. An applicator housing is provided which is extended or retracted vertically in response to an applicator force applied thereto. An insulation blade housing with an insulation blade and a core blade housing, with a core blade are movingly disposed inside the applicator housing. Prior to a crimping operation, the applicator housing is retracted and a terminal is moved into position and aligned with the insulation and core blades. A lead wire is also positioned inside the terminal. As the applicator housing descends in response to the applicator force, it pushes the lead wire down into contact with the terminal. A cam lever, acting under the influence of the applicator force, moves a cam vertically, bringing together complementary members of an insulation anvil and a core anvil.

During the crimping process, the elastically deformable element is increasingly deformed until the force acting on the contact has reached a maximum whereby the force acting on the contact increases continuously with increasing deformation of the elastically deformable element. The spring constant of the elastic element is set so soft that the force with which the contact is compressed onto the cable is almost independent of fluctuations in the wire thickness.
