Finger-ring Forming Or Sizing Patents (Class 29/8)
  • Patent number: 10709216
Abstract: A jewelry product the form of an annular copper ring having a receiving passage through-hole. The annular copper ring shank includes a through-bore extending from an outer circumferential surface to an inner circumferential surface in a radial direction of the copper ring. The annular copper ring shank has a flattened area on the outer circumferential surface to facilitate engagement with an inner surface of the head of an ornament. The ornament includes a threaded shaft extending from the inner surface of the head. The threaded shaft engages the through-bore and terminates at a flanged end to make a secured connection between the screw and the inner circumferential surface of the ring shank. The flanged end is flush with the inner circumferential surface of the ring shank to provide a continuous, smooth transition between the inner circumferential surface and the flange.

Abstract: An interchangeable ring system jewelry (20) consisting of a custom ring assembly (18) which can be assembled according to the user's desire, manually or by using specific tools (28L, 28R). The custom ring assembly (18) is comprised of an elongated flanged ring shank (22), an inner threaded nut-like interlocking ring (26), and an interchangeable inner ring (24). The flanged ring (22) in its preferred configuration is comprised of a fixed flange ring (36), fixed to one of its ends, and an external thread (32) on the other end. The inner ring (24) is slid onto the flanged ring shank (22), up to the fixed flange ring (36). The interlocking ring (26) interlocks to the flanged ring shank (22), screwed to its threaded end using specific tools (28L, 28R) or manually. In this way, the inner ring (24) is delimited between the interlocking ring (26) and the fixed flange ring (36) of the flanged ring shank, creating ready-to-wear custom ring jewelry.

Abstract: A method of enlarging a ring. A ring to be enlarged is severed, preferably with an end mill, and then expanded. The end mill will preferably cut a circular section from the ring, so that the ends of the now severed ring are concave. A plurality of preformed bars are also provided. The bars will have curved ends that match the curvature of the ring ends. The curvature of the bars and the ring will also match. The width of the various bars, between the ends, will be selected to correspond to desired increases in the ring circumference. A cross-sectional slice will be cut from a bar of the appropriate width and inserted into the severed ring. The ring and the cross-section will then be joined together, preferably with an induction welder, which can be used to quickly heat only a limited portion of the ring and insert.

Abstract: This invention relates to a tension ring capable of mounting a diamond or other gemstone by applying sufficient pressure to the girdle of the stone. The tension ring of this invention provides enough springiness and elasticity to maintain the pressure at the girdle of the stone under normal wear conditions, such as a snag or blow to the ring. The key aspect to the disclosed tension ring is the fusion of a cast component which provides the detail and polish with a cold worked component which provides springiness and elasticity to the ring. The benefit to a tension mount is that more incident light can strike the gemstone and enhance the natural brilliance and luster beyond other types of settings.

Abstract: In a method of assembling an electronic component onto a substrate, a fiducial is defined by a solder mask positioned upon the substrate. A fiducial-defining window in the mask has a base of the window completely provided with a material of different light-reflecting quality than the mask surface. This provides for the peripheral edge of the window, i.e. the mask, to be the edge of the fiducial. Windows in the mask which expose terminal pads upon the substrate and fixed in position relative to edges of the fiducial and both these windows and the fiducial are determined by the mask. Surface mount components are then located upon the substrate relative to the window positions and not relative to the terminal pad positions. This process reduces the number of incorrect connections of terminals of components to terminal pads.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for temporarily attaching a pre-atomization bowl to a wall of a generally annular combustion chamber during assembly of the combustion chamber with the fuel injector assembly. The attachment apparatus holds each of the pre-atomization bowls in a position so as to minimize the stress imparted to the fuel injectors during assembly of the engine components. The apparatus utilizes a magnetic attachment device to hold the pre-atomization bowls in their assembly positions. The force of the magnetic attachment device is sufficient to hold the pre-atomization bowls in these positions against the effect of gravity, but is insufficient to prevent the radial movement of the pre-atomization bowls relative to the combustion chamber once the turbojet engine has been assembled. Thus, the device does not inhibit the radial play of the pre-atomization bowls once the engine has been asssembled.

A rotatable handle on the handle assembly moves the second roller and gear towards the first roller and gear. A groove in the second roller matches the cross-section of the ring shank to eliminate stretch marks and marring on the ring shank. The ring has a shank with a thick portion diametric to the jewel portion. The method of using a ring sizer calls for tightening the grooved roller adjacent the non-thick portions of the shank, so that no dents are caused in the shank. Beveled edges in the shank eliminate stretch marks and sharp edges during sizing.
