Pulley Making Patents (Class 29/892)
  • Patent number: 5147249
Abstract: A power transmission multi-groove sheave and method of manufacturing such sheave wherein each of the grooves of the multi-groove sheave incorporate critical dimensions to make it adaptable for use with any of several commercially known multi-groove sheaves and belt sets therefor, the multi-groove sheaves having differing proximal critical dimensions including those relating to the side wall angles of slope, the top and bottom widths, the normal depths, and the spacing between width centers of adjacent grooves.

  • Patent number: 5133694
Abstract: Cheeks (2, 3) in the form of a solid rim are made integral with a pulley body (1) in that their cylindrical inside surfaces (6) are fitted under tension against cylindrical surfaces forming the bottoms of grooves (7, 8). Their positioning is carried out either by hot-collaring or by driving onto conical surfaces (9, 10). The bottoms of channels contrived between teeth (4) communicate with the outer sides of the pulley, thus permitting the movement of air during operation with a notched belt (5) and, consequently, a reduction of operating noise.

  • Patent number: 5129146
Abstract: The invention presents a manufacturing method of making poly-V pulleys for bending the peripheral end part of the disc-shaped sheet metal blank in concave or convex form, flattening the bent portion so as not to elongate it in the radial direction, increasing the thickness of the peripheral end part of the disc-shaped sheet metal blank, forming the thickened sheet metal blank into a cup form, and forming poly-V grooves at the outer side of the peripheral wall of the cup-shaped blank, and the products thereof. By increasing the thickness of the part corresponding to the peripheral wall of the cup-shaped blank in the stage of the disc-shaped sheet metal blank, the peripheral wall of the cup-shaped blank may be increased in thickness by a simple press machine and at high efficiency.

  • Patent number: 5113584
Abstract: The hub part of a flat disk is clamped between the jaws of a chuck and a protruding circumferential part is formed against the chuck by a roller so that the formed material is distributed axially off-center with respect to the hub part. The formed material is then flattened by a further roller to form a cylindrical preform which is likewise axially off center with respect to the hub part. The preform is formed by a last roller to provide a circumferential area with a final profile for guiding a belt.

  • Patent number: 5069654
Abstract: A connection system is provided for mounting apertured components such as gears, pulleys, rollers and the like on shafts. In preferred form, the system of the invention provides connections that are releasable so that shaft-mounted components can be repositioned, removed, serviced and/or replaced. A component that is to be mounted on a shaft is provided with a mounting hole that has an inner diameter that loosely receives the outer diameter of a shaft onto which the component is to be mounted. A ring of elastomeric material is inserted into an annular space that is defined at a location between the inner diameter of the mounting hole and the outer diameter of the shaft; and, the elastomeric material is tightly clamped between a pair of relatively axially movable clamping members that extend into opposed end regions of the annular space.

  • Patent number: 4946427
Abstract: A composite rotary drive member such as a gear, pulley or the like is formed from thermoplastics material that is molded in situ about one or more metal inserts. A circumferentially extending drive formation of desired shape and size is defined by the molded plastics material, and is molded without a need for conventional measures to compensate for shrinkage. The drive member is formed by first forming a composite preform member that has injection molded thermoplastics material with peripheral portions extending about one or more metal inserts. A band-like ring of injection molded thermoplastics material is molded to extend contiguously and continuously about peripheral surface portions of the molded commposite preform member, with the plastics material of the band-like ring and of the composite preform member uniting to form a single plastics structure.

  • Patent number: 4905361
Abstract: A pulley comprising a circumferential groove which has a non-flat groove surface for increased friction against a belt to be received and a manufacturing method therefor. According to the method a pulley material is forged into a basic pulley configuration which is the shape of the material ready for forming the circumferential groove. The basic configuration comprises a plurality of axial grooves which extend in a generally axial direction over a surface of the pulley in which the circumferential groove is to be formed. The the circumferential groove is rolling-formed in the pulley material. Thus, a non-flat groove surface for a higher friction is provided. Alternatively, the higher friction groove surface may be formed by roughening a sand blasting, shot blasting or chemical surface treatment.
