Abstract: A fluid device such as an air spring includes a pair of parallel spaced end members and an elastomeric sleeve interposed therebetween to define a fluid pressure chamber therein. A girdle hoop is formed of cold rolled solid steel in a toroidal configuration and is molded into the elastomeric sleeve parallel and preferably spaced equidistant from the end plates.
Abstract: A split ring assembly method includes rotating a drive spindle within the bore of a cylindrical housing, the spindle having a drive pin adapted to engage the gap in one face of the split ring positioned axially on one end of the spindle to rotate the ring. An opening wedge is biased into engagement with the opposite face of the split ring and has an edge positioned to enter the other ring gap in response to ring rotation to cause the ring to progressively open along its split.
