Abstract: An eccentric bearing for an electrohydraulic piston-pump assembly of a vehicle brake system includes a shaft configured to be driven rotationally about its axis, a bearing ring eccentric relative to the shaft, and, in a gap between the bearing ring and shaft, rolling bodies with different diameters according to a differing width of the gap. When the shaft is rotationally driven, an eccentricity of the bearing ring circulates the shaft more slowly than the rotational speed of the shaft and drives a reciprocating movement of pump pistons which bear against the bearing ring. To ensure that the rolling bodies roll on and circulate the shaft, a radial elasticity loads the rolling bodies with prestress against the shaft and bearing ring. The prestress is caused by an undersize of the bearing ring or by an elastic ring on the shaft, on at least one rolling body or in the bearing ring.

Abstract: A method of making a CV joint is disclosed. The method includes forming a first rotatable shaft having a first longitudinal axis, the first shaft comprising an axle portion having on one end thereof an enlarged pocket end. The method also includes forming a plurality of inwardly extending bores into the enlarged pocket end along peripherally spaced, radially extending pocket axes to a bore depth. The method further includes forming a plurality of inwardly extending ball pockets that are disposed about the pocket axes to a pocket depth, wherein the bore depth is greater than the pocket depth, thereby forming a recessed lubricant reservoir.

Abstract: An outer ring 6a for a shell-type radial needle bearing having a cylindrical shape with a bottom is achieved for which fatigue life of the bottom plate section 9a and the continuous section between the bottom plate section 9a and the cylindrical section 8a is improved, as well as the anti-corrosion characteristic of the outer ring 6a is improved and the outer ring 6a can be prevented from coming out of the bearing without an increase in cost. After obtaining an intermediate raw material 35 having a cylindrical section and a bottom plate section from a metal raw material, shot peening is performed on the intermediate material 35 to create residual compressive stress in the surface and surface layer section on the outer surface side of the cylindrical section 8a and the bottom plate section 9a such that the residual compressive stress in the surface layer section on the outer surface side is greater than the in the surface layer section on the inner surface side, and from the surface to a depth of 0.

Abstract: A refrigeration chiller employs a centrifugal compressor the impellers of which are mounted on a shaft which is itself mounted for rotation using rolling element bearings lubricated only by the refrigerant which constitutes the working fluid of the chiller system. Apparatus is taught for providing liquid refrigerant to (1.) the bearings immediately upon chiller start-up, during chiller operation and during a coastdown period subsequent to shutdown of the chiller and (2.) the drive motor of the chiller's compressor for motor cooling purposes. By use of a variable speed-driven motor to drive the compressor, optimized part load chiller performance is achieved in a chiller which does not require or employ an oil-based lubrication system.

Abstract: A bearing assembly is disclosed which addresses the problem of axially retaining a bearing journaled onto a shaft within a casing in an axially compact and technically economic and reliable way by first mounting a retaining plate (6) onto an outer race of the bearing (1). The mounting can be achieved by press fining onto a shoulder so that the retaining plate can rotate relative to the outer race. The bearing is then journaled onto a shaft (4) and inserted into a compact casing (3) so that the outer race is guided into a housing (2) formed in an end wall of the casing (3). The retaining plate can then be rotated as required to align fastening bosses (7) with holes (8) to be engaged by screws (9) so that the retaining plate us urged axially against the outer race.
