Form Or Holder Patents (Class 29/91.7)
  • Patent number: 8453306
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to an apparatus and a method used to upholster a box-spring frame. A textile tape with a portion encapsulating a draw cord is sewn to the inner perimeter of a border material. The other edge of the border material is sewn to a top cover material. The box-spring frame is placed within this assembly, with the top side of the frame abutting the top cover. This assembly is placed in the attachment apparatus. The attachment apparatus optionally compresses the box-spring frame and is equipped with a pair of tension applicators. Once in place, each of the two draw cord ends are secured to a corresponding tension applicator, and tension is applied to the draw cord. This tension tightens the border assembly edge around the frame. With the proper tension applied, the draw cord is secured to the box-spring frame. The bottom cover is then attached in the conventional manner with a series of staples.

Abstract: A vehicle seat cushion comprises at least two foam materials, having different hardnesses, and a fleece arranged between the foam materials. The cushion may be made by introducing a first material into a tool, covering the first material with the fleece, and then introducing a second material into the tool. Alternatively, both materials, separated by the fleece, may be introduced into the tool. The foam materials may have the same or different thicknesses, and these thicknesses may vary over the length and/or width of the cushion.

Abstract: At least one major surface of the core is covered with an inner layer of insulation, and at least one outer layer of material. The outer layer is secured to the inner layer by inserting flexible filament type fasteners through the hollow needle of an installation tool. If the core is made of foam, filamentary fasteners may also be used to secure the inner layer. The insulation layers are ultimately covered and secured in place by a fabric panel which conceals and secures the other components. Filamentary fasteners may also be used to secure a pillow top edge or a top panel to the mattress.

  • Patent number: 6880216
Abstract: A seat assembly machine includes an independently adjustable alignment mechanism. A seat holding mechanism secures a seat frame in place relative to a fabric cover that is supported on another portion of the machine. An independently moveable alignment mechanism includes support posts that are received through openings in the cover and into corresponding receiver portions of the seat frame to properly align those components. After proper alignment is verified, the seat frame is inserted into the cover. The adjustment mechanism is normally biased toward the seat frame holding mechanism and movement of the seat frame holding mechanism overcomes the bias on the alignment mechanism so that the alignment mechanism selectively moves with the seat holder mechanism during an assembly process. The independently positionable alignment mechanism facilitates assembling a variety of seat types using a single machine.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for high-speed application of anchor clips to furniture rails are provided. The present invention preferably utilizes a conventional type of fastener power tool that is adapted and retrofit for use on the present machine and which has a much faster cycle rate than the toggle press tool of prior machines. The apparatus can also include a clip sensing mechanism that has a generally universal adjustable mounting system to provide significant flexibility in the types of rails that can be clipped therewith. The clip sensor is mounted in spaced relation to and preferably above the support on which the rail is guided as it is pushed through the clipping station so that non-linear rails can also be clipped. Preferably, the clip feeding mechanism of the present clipping machine is simplified versus feed mechanisms of prior machines.
