Abstract: A sensing system senses whether or not a lock's bolt (140), e.g. deadbolt, is aligned with a hole (150) which the bolt is to engage in the locked state. In electronic locks, the bolt is not driven into the hole until the sensing system indicates that the bolt is aligned with the hole. Another sensing system senses the position of the bolt and/or a dead-latch bar (1310). This sensing system is spaced from the bolt's end engaging the hole in order not to interfere with the alignment sensing. The two sensing systems are used to determine whether the lock is locked or unlocked. A magnet system provides alignment assistance to align the bolt with the hole before the bolt is driven into the hole. • Patent number: 8485567
Abstract: A sterilization cassette has a slide latch system to secure the lid of the cassette to the body of the cassette. A finger tab on the outside of the cassette moves a latch arm on the inside of the cassette along a slot. A tension spring secures the position of latch components whether the latch is open or closed. Spacers between the cassette and latch parts facilitate smooth gliding action. The latch arm engages an angled bracket on the lid of the cassette. Alternating notch depths on instrument rails within the cassette work with opposing rails that likewise have alternating depths of notches to capture and hold instruments. This notch configuration causes the handles of adjacent instruments stowed in the cassette to stagger in height so that a clinician can access the handles of the stowed instruments.

Abstract: A door for mission critical enclosures, for example, cabinets containing sensitive items, such as electronics that may be exposed to high stress environments, for example shock and vibration. The door structure described provides improved mounting and lock features that can allow easy access while maintaining rigid structural needs and integrity. A door assembly for a cabinet generally includes a door that can be fitted directly, or indirectly, to an enclosure through an adapter frame. Generally, the door has fitting structures that operate as interlocking, tight fitting key sets. The fittings provide suitable detent features. An actuatable lock mechanism respectively locks and unlocks the door. The actuatable lock mechanism includes a ramped locking bolt that can engage a ramped surface of the cabinet or adapter frame to facilitate locking and unlocking of the door.

Abstract: A baby gate assembly which opens automatically only when detecting a designated person, by IR detection, RFID tagging or voice recognition. One or more IR detectors are mounted on a telescopic mast, enabling designation by height selection and the sensed signal compared with a datum or another IR facing in an opposite direct to provide signal operating reversible stepping motor to unlatch the gate. The control circuitry maintains the gate unlatched for sufficient time for the designated person to push open and walk through the gate in a hands free operation. A pedal release mechanism is also enabling unlatching during a power cut. The automatic and pedal unlatching mechanisms are linked for lost motion permitting independent operation.

Abstract: A latch, latching system and other components are disclosed that are particularly well suited for use with the heavy doors of armored military vehicles. Some component embodiments are usable in normal and emergency modes to provide access, entry, egress and rescue through vehicle door openings. Included among the disclosed components are latches having separate operating components that can be used to retract spring projected latch bolts and that usable advantageously in pairs and readily reconfigurable for use on left, right, front and rear doors of a vehicle at locations where door thicknesses differ. Also disclosed are operating linkages intended to extend exteriorly of door armor to turn shafts to operate latches situated interiorly of the door armor.

  • Patent number: 8459704
Abstract: An improved security system to prevent unwanted entrance through a hinged barrier, such as, but not limited to a door, is provided and comprises a member associated with the barrier, whether internal or eternal to the barrier, and adapted to extend from a first length to a second length. An actuation mechanism is coupled to the member and is adapted to extend the member from the first length to the second length and to contract the member from the second length to the first length. A receptacle is provided adjacent the barrier for receiving a portion of the member when the member is extended by the actuating mechanism. A hinge assembly is provided and is disposed substantially opposite the receptacle and adjacent the barrier and is coupled to another end of the member, such that when the member is actuated to the extended position, the member, receptacle and hinge assembly form a security system to prevent unwanted entrance through the barrier.

  • Patent number: 8434795
Abstract: The present invention is a dual door release handle and related mechanisms for use with cabs of industrial vehicles that an operator may reach from outside of such a cab in order to fully release a door that has been propped open in order to close it. The dual door release handle of the present invention includes a latching mechanism having a handle mounted on the inside of the cab that extends into the doorway such that it may be reached through the open door of the cab by an operator who is located outside and/or below the cab. A linkage is provided between this handle and an operable device associated with the release mechanism inside the cab. The linkage is operatively attached to the handle and to the release mechanism such that turning the handle causes the linkage to move the release mechanism. Movement of the handle pulls the linkage and releases the holdback holding the open door against the side of the cab.

Abstract: A locking enclosure includes a base, a cover mounted on the base, and two locking members assembled on the cover. A plurality of supporting recesses and two supporting portions are defined in the base. A plurality of barbs are formed on the cover to match with the supporting recesses, and two elastic arms are assembled on the cover to engage with the supporting portions, whereby the cover is restricted to move relative to the base, and is secured on the base. The locking members each comprise a resisting portion abutting a corresponding elastic arm. The resisting portion can be operated to make the elastic arm disengage from the supporting portion, to remove the cover from the base.

Abstract: A locking apparatus uses a handle pivotally connected to a base to control the movement of a slide block slidablely accommodated in a base. The slide block includes a locking tongue. The locking tongue protrudes out of the base or retracts back into the base according to the movement of the slide block. Thus, the locking apparatus can lock the hard disk when the locking tongue protrudes out of the base and unlock the hard disk when the locking tongue retracts back into the base.

  • Patent number: 8424927
Abstract: A coupling structure couples first and second casing parts together. The first casing part is formed with a detachment hole. The coupling structure includes one resilient engaging hook projecting from the first casing part and a coupling member disposed between the first and second casing parts and formed with first and second engaging grooves. The resilient engaging hook hooks the first engaging groove in a right direction. The coupling member has a pushing element tending toward the detachment hole. One rigid engaging hook projects from the second casing part and engaging the second engaging groove in a left direction. Manually leftwise movement of the pushing element in the left direction results in simultaneous bending of the resilient engaging hook in the left direction so as to disengage the rigid engaging hook from the second engaging groove, thereby permitting removal of the second casing part from the first casing part.

  • Patent number: 8419085
Abstract: A case locking device is provided. For example, an outer case and an inner case used for various types of electronic devices, such as set-top boxes (STB), are connected by a lock using a resilient force from an elastic material, such as a spring, so that the outer case and the inner case may be separated from each other using only a separately provided jig. Accordingly, the outer case and the inner case may be connected to each other more easily and any general user may be prevented from separating the case arbitrarily, thus making it possible to effectively prevent catastrophic failures from occurring at the electronic device due to a user's arbitrary manipulation.

  • Patent number: 8419086
Abstract: A mortise latchset has an improved leveraged cam assembly, completely internal to the latchset body, versatile enough to allow the door handles to be rotated in either direction to retract the latchbolt, and robust enough to independently bias each of two lever-type door handles toward a handle-centering position, even when one of the handles is being operated. The mortise latchset uses a pair of coaxially mounted cam followers independently leveraged by a cantilevered spring assembly. The cam followers are located between the operating cams and the latch retracting assembly, and each leveraged cam follower is operable to engage the latch retracting assembly to retract the latchbolt, while the other cam follower biases its operating cam in the handle-centering position.
