The adjustment mechanism may include a driver component and a driven component. Rotation of the driver component about a first axis may displace the driven component, thereby causing the position of the latch bolt to be adjusted along a second axis that is non-parallel to the first axis. • Patent number: 10030411
Abstract: A damping device for an exit device that is configured to resist high velocity movement a latch assembly relative to a baseplate assembly. Pivotal displacement of a bell crank during typical operation of the exit device may cause a protrusion of the bell crank to exert a pulling force on control linkage element that is coupled to a connection link of a latch assembly and a spring damper element of the damper device, thereby operating the latch assembly while also generally by-passing the damping effect of the damping device. When high velocity movement is imparted on an entryway device associated with the exit device, the damper device resists high velocity movement of the latch assembly relative to the baseplate assembly, thereby at least attempting to prevent the latch assembly from moving independently of the baseplate assembly so as to prevent unlatching of a latch of the latch assembly.

Optionally, the assembly (20) includes third means, such as shape memory alloy wire (34) which is adapted to contract when activated to move the first means (28) from the first position to the second position. The assembly (20) is useful for testing oxygen release apparatus in aircraft.

Abstract: A locking mechanism is described that releasably locks at least two objects together. The locking mechanism allows one of the objects to be rotatably connected to the other, allowing for a variety of uses. The rotatability and releasability of the locking mechanism allows several locking mechanisms to be used together as an escape hatch system, particularly for use in race vehicles. The locking mechanism has uses beyond the escape hatch system and is applicable to doors, cover, and other objects that are rotatably attached to a second object.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for maintaining a panel in a closed position and releasing a panel upon application of changes resulting from a pressure change in an area adjoining the panel. The apparatus includes a latch mechanism attached to a structure having a bolt for engaging corresponding panel. The latch mechanism may be retained on the corresponding panel with the bolt engaging the structure. A pressure responsive device is provided to detect a change in pressure on one side of the panel and facilitating release of the bolt in response to a pressure change of a predetermined range or force. The latch mechanism and pressure responsive device vent to or communicate with only one side of the panel. A reservoir on one side of the panel communicates with a pressure responsive chamber of the pressure responsive device. The reservoir is generally on the same side of the panel to provide a pressure volume which is generally isolated from ambient pressure, such as during a decompression event.

  • Patent number: 6732664
Abstract: The locking mechanism described herein is for use in an enclosure, which is part of a product delivery system. The locking mechanism uses existing locks and latches, and configures them using linkages into a mechanism that is not currently available. The mechanism has a latch that holds the door of the enclosure closed. This latch stays in a normally unlocked state until deliberate acts are taken to lock the latch. When a delivery is made, the delivery person opens the unlocked door, makes the delivery, and then closes the door and turns the rotary latch counter clockwise until it latches in the locked position. There are three independent and distinct ways to unlock the mechanism: (1) a key can be used to unlock the mechanism; (2) a combination lock can be used to unlock the mechanism; or (3) an emergency release paddle, for child safety is located on the lower back cover of the lock, and can be pushed to unlock the mechanism.

Abstract: An exit bar for securing a door has a housing adapted for mounting to a door. A push pad for receiving a push force is mounted to the housing. A latch extends from the housing to releasably latch the door to which the exit bar is mounted. A link system links the push pad to the latch so that a push force exerted on the push pad releases the latch. An electromagnetic lock disposed in the housing locks the link system to prevent releasing of the latch. The electromagnetic lock employs an electromagnet and a movable armature to lock the link system.
