  • Patent number: 5474342
Abstract: A door latch actuator is adapted for use in association with a bolt receiver which is to be engaged by a latch bolt of latch bolt assembly on a door mounted for movement between a first door position and a second door position. The latch bolt assembly includes a latch bolt having a distal end which slideably moves between an extended state and a retracted state. In the extended state, the latch bolt assembly is operative to engage a bolt receiver to retain the door at the first door position in a secured condition. Broadly, the door latch actuator comprises an actuator element and a driver. The actuator element is disposed in proximity to the distal end of the latch bolt when the door is at the first door position in the secured condition and moves between a first actuator position and a second actuator position. In the first actuator position, the actuator element allows the distal end of the spring latch bolt to engage a bolt receiver in the extended state.

  • Patent number: 4902052
Abstract: A locking device for doors and the like, having a bolt installed in the door frame and movable into the open position by a solenoid and into the shut position by a spring. Locking devices of this kind have not found general use, since there is no room in the frame for a device as required by the regulations wherewith the lock may be opened mechanically from the inside. This problem has been solved in such a manner that the socket of the door has a counterbolt forced by a spring against the bolt proper, whereby the spring force of the spring of the counterbolt is smaller than the spring force of the spring of the bolt.

Abstract: A latch operating lever is mounted on one panel of a cassette or the like. The latch lever has a hook portion at one end captured between a lid on the panel and a latch plate secured to and spaced from the lid. The latch plate has a hinge bar over which the hook portion is mounted, and an opening below the hinge bar through which the free end of the hook portion extends. The latch plate engages a catch spring on another panel for releasably latching the panels together. Pivotal movement of the latch operating lever causes the free end of the hook portion to engage the catch spring and disengage it from the latch plate for releasing the panels.

Abstract: An emergency release for key operated deadlocks includes a ram rod for forcing a deadbolt out of a keeper so as to allow a deadlocked door to open under emergency conditions. The release further includes a yieldable element disposed between the key operator for the deadbolt, which yieldable element deforms as the deadbolt is forced back by the ram. An alarm is activated upon operation of the emergency release to discourage intruders from trying to open the door with the emergency release. Preferably, the rod is advanced by a rack-and-pinion arrangement which is operated by a wire coiled around a spool.

  • Patent number: 4151891
Abstract: A vehicle with hood latch and release assembly having an abutment post on each side of the vehicle chassis and having a release member movable adjacent to the posts. A hood is pivotal up and down on the vehicle chassis and carries two latch members in the form of two cams which are pivotally mounted on the hood and are spring-urged thereon for engagement with each of the posts to hold the hood in the down position. A rubber cushion is disposed above each abutment post in the down positions, for cushioning the hood downwardly on the post and thus on the chassis. The release member extends across the vehicle and has a handle or grip portion on each end thereof so that the release member can be acutated from either side of the vehicle for releasing the latch and permitting the hood to be pivoted upwardly. The latch members are spring-urged to their securing position to hold the hood down, and there are angled guide-surfaces which permit lateral deviation of the hood but final lateral guidance thereof.
