Ring Patents (Class 292/256.6)
  • Patent number: 10823761
Abstract: When securing a watthour meter to a meter box base, a meter sealing ring is typically used. A quick-fastening watthour meter retaining member is provided, in certain embodiment of the present invention, to reduce installation time and generally comprises a circular band, a connector housing member, and a receiver housing member. The connector housing member and a receiver housing member are preferably mounted to the terminus ends of the circular band. A portion of the connector housing member, comprising locking protrusions or “teeth”, is adapted to engage, with a ratchet-type action, in one example embodiment, and fasten into the receiver housing member, which contains, a pre-installed “padlock type” frangible sealing device in an example embodiment. Removal of the ring is accomplished by simply cutting, in one embodiment, and removing the frangible sealing device and allowing the housings to disengage from each other.

  • Patent number: 9074686
Abstract: An example sealing system includes a retainer for a gasket wherein the retainer protects the polished sealing surface of the seal gasket from scratches before assembly by suspending the gasket inside the retainer, regardless of orientation. A gap in the circumference of the retainer allows the retainer to flex open for insertion of the seal gasket. A small chamfer on the inner diameter of the retainer aids the insertion of the seal into the retainer. The gap in the circumference of the retainer also allows the retainer to compress to a smaller circumference for a tight fit inside the sealing counterbore. A groove in the inner diameter of the retainer includes a protruding portion for the seal to engage. The depth of this groove is configured to provide some clearance inside the retainer for the protruding edge of the seal during a complete compression of the retainer.

  • Patent number: 6367851
Abstract: A locking ring includes an annular ring portions with a U-shaped cross section. The locking ring serves to retain an electric meter in its meter socket in a manner which is well known. Both ends of the ring portion terminate in front housings, each housing having an axial lock receiving aperture therethrough. The locking ring further includes a free floating rear housing with two lock receiving apertures therethrough. When the ring ends are brought together, the front housings slide over the rear housing until their lock receiving apertures are in axial alignment. A barrel lock can then be inserted into each of the two sets of aligned apertures, to secure the locking ring against opening. When a barrel lock is removed from either set of apertures, the ring can be opened and removed from the meter.
