A hook rotates along an orientation generally the same as that of the keeper, and the hook retains the hinge pin as desired when the hinge pin is not locked down by the keeper.

  • Patent number: 5669638
Abstract: The present invention provides a fastener adapted to be secured to a first member for fastening a keeper secured to a second member. The fastener comprises a base member, a sleeve member connected to the base member, and a slide member received within the sleeve member to be extended or withdrawn. The sleeve member is included with an opening into which a cam mechanism is received for rotatable movement. A cam member is also provided extending from the cam mechanism and into a cam opening provided in the slide member. The fastener also includes a turning member which is adapted to rotate the cam mechanism so as to move the cam member within the cam opening in order to extend or withdrawal the slide member. The fastener may also include a biasing member confined within the base member in order to bias the sleeve member relative to the base member as the slide member is fastened with the keeper. In addition, the fastener may be adapted for increasing the amount of extension or withdrawal of the slide member.

  • Patent number: 5593190
Abstract: The Consistent-Force Quick Latching System (CQLS) provides a means for athing and detaching two objects quickly, using consistent force regardless of the dimensions of the individual objects. The CQLS, usually secured to object A, utilizes a notched cam and a detent that enters one of the notches in response to externally applied pressure and rotates the cam in conjunction with the rotation of a handle that is pivotally coupled to the cam. When the handle rotates in one direction, the cam rotates so as to raise the hook that is also pivotally coupled to the cam, thereby forcing against object A object B that has been slid onto the hook. The two objects are separated from each other by a release mechanism that pulls the detent out of a notch, allowing the handle to rotate in the opposite direction. This lowers the pivot point and thus the hook, resulting in separation of object B from object A.

Abstract: An interlock system for locking wall panel frames. Vertical frame members are provided with keyhole-shaped openings for receipt therethrough of the head of a carriage bolt in one portion and having and a second elongate slotted portion capable of a non-rotationable engagement with the carriage bolt. A threaded shaft of the carriage bolt being threadably engageable by a dowel freely rotationally held by a lever bracket whereby the dowel can be threaded along the threaded shaft to bring the lever bracket against one of the vertical frame members. The latch bracket having camming edges and being pivotal around said dowel in a past-center relation whereby to cam said camming edges against the second frame member and lock the two vertical frame members together without the use of hand tools. Access from only one side of a panel frame joint is necessary to engage or disengage the interlock system.

  • Patent number: 5476020
Abstract: Apparatus adapted for adjusting the position of articles held together by tensioned fasteners such as bolts having a head, a threaded shaft and a nut into which the shaft is threaded includes first and second washer members that are receivable in a stacked array on the bolt shaft between the bolt head and an adjacent surface of one of the articles. Each of the washer members has a diametrically extending semi-cylindrical groove in the surface thereof which faces the other washer member. A cam lever has opposed cam pins of arcuate non-circular cross-section receivable between the washer members within the grooves. Movement of the cam lever to first or second positions thereof will cam the washer members away from or towards each other respectively, thereby applying tension to or releasing tension from the bolt so as to clamp the articles together or release them for movement relative to each other.
