  • Patent number: 7017959
Abstract: A portable door locking device. In one embodiment, a door lock may include a base plate configured with a locking wedge and a driver wedge. The base plate may be formed in a U-shaped fashion, thus defining a cut-out region sized to receive the locking and driver wedges. Typically, the locking wedge is pivotally attached to the base plate, permitting rotational movement of the locking wedge about a pivoting axis. In some implementations, the locking wedge comprises a sloped bottom surface that slideably cooperates with a sloped top surface of the driving wedge. In use, the driver wedge may be driven in linear fashion underneath the locking wedge, causing the locking wedge to engage an adjacent door. With the door lock deployed in this manner, the door cannot be readily opened from the outside.

  • Patent number: 5566993
Abstract: A device is provided for the locking of one or more doors. In particular, the device comprises a strap, a door engaging member, and a frame. The strap has a first end which includes an outwardly extending projection for engagement with a door latch recess. The strap has a second end which is curved away from the first, and includes a stop mounted thereon. The frame is slidably located on the strap, allowing it to be moved towards and away from a door. Further, a door engaging member in the form of an adjustable bolt is provided on the frame. The frame includes slots in the walls thereof which are engageable with notches and tabs on the strap, preventing movement of the frame along the strap when the door engaging member is used to engage and lock a door.

  • Patent number: 4406488
Abstract: A quick release door lock is disclosed which includes a unitary body of thin, flat, hardened steel. The body terminates at one end in an integral tongue and at the other in an integral bent flange. A unitary, generally U-shaped slide is movable along the body between door engaging and door releasing positions in response to the movements of an operating rod. The operating rod is reciprocal and rotatable through the flange and is provided with an unthreaded adjusting section and a threaded securing section. The threaded section is designed with a double lead special thread to provide increased linear movement of the slide in response to rotation of the operating rod. The tongue is a removable fit within the door jamb recess and the slide is movable into engagement with the door to secure the door at the jamb between the body tongue and a pressure face of the slide.

  • Patent number: 4285535
Abstract: A portable auxiliary locking device for securing an inwardly opening door of a room or building against unauthorized entry is disclosed. The locking device includes a threaded rod which terminates in an axially extending plate region having a hook-like flange formed at the distal end thereof. The threaded rod passes coaxially through a central opening within a tubular body member having an end face that is configured for abutment with the inner surface of the door. A locking barrel, rotatably interconnected with the second end of the body member, includes a quick-release latch that is spring-loaded into engagement with the threaded rod. In operation, the door is closed with the hook-like flange extending into the opening within the strike plate of the door frame and the threaded rod extending inwardly into the room that is to be secured. The quick-release latch is then depressed and the body member slid into abutment with the surface of the door.
