  • Patent number: 8534721
Abstract: A closure restraint system for providing security of an enclosed space by denying access into the interior of enclosed space or vice versa denying access to the exterior of the enclosed space. Access to said enclosed space is provided by some type of closure, typically a door, gate or access panel. The closure restraint system is mounted as and operates as a single unit with the second support plate being swiveled along the frictionally-restrained axis of the swivel shaft to the locked position with the closure closed. As the closure is attempted to be opened it is held ajar in the locked position; a line of sight or access cannot be obtained into or out of the enclosure; therefore, it does not allow the restraint system to be defeated.

  • Patent number: 7537250
Abstract: A child safety lock to selectively secure cabinet drawers and doors by using tie-wraps to mount a horizontally oriented base standoff onto the front rail of the cabinetry in a manner that won't hinder opening and closing the related doors and drawers. At least one spring-loaded latch member is pivotally disposed on the base standoff above a notched out section. The latch member stays frictionally engaged in the horizontal position due to the bias provided by spring-loaded pivot point when access is desired. To restrict access therein, the adult simply turns the latch member to the vertical position to block the door/drawer wherein the spring bias pulls it into the notched out section thereby necessitating the more complex action of simultaneously pulling and turning the latch member to allow access thereto.

  • Patent number: 5325685
Abstract: A portable auxiliary door lock includes a lock cylinder slidable upon a bar having toothed edges to engage the locking means within the cylinder. The device differs from such locks for sliding panels, as it provides for temporary attachment between the edge of an arcuately hinged door and the adjacent door jamb to secure the door when it is closed. One end of the bar is bent at a 90 degree angle to insert into the latch recess of the striker plate. However, rather than using the lock cylinder to abut against the door and thereby at least partially blocking access to the lock cylinder for actuation due to the adjacent door knob assembly, the cylinder faces away from the knob assembly and an additional stop plate is used to retain the door. Other improvements are provided, such as adjustment for the spacing between the door and the jamb and additional security to preclude the forced removal of the lock cylinder from the bar.
