Catch Devices Patents (Class 292/298)
  • Patent number: 10961747
Abstract: A device for securing a door includes an elongated flat rigid member. A first segment is connected to a second segment by a transition segment perpendicular to the first and second segments. The first segment forms an aperture to admit a restraining device. The device also includes a first blocking member having two apertures and configured to engage the first member such that the restraining device restrains the first blocking member relative to the flat rigid member. The device also includes a second blocking member configured to lockably engage the second segment, thereby securing the device relative to a frame of the door with the first and second segments on opposite sides of the frame. When the device is secured and the door closed, and the first blocking member restrained relative to the flat rigid member, the door is blocked from being opened by the first and second blocking members.

  • Patent number: 10041273
Abstract: An auxiliary lock for preventing a hinged door from opening all the way is provided. The lock comprises a strike plate, a flip lock plate, a catching member to receive a door knob or handle, and a means for connecting the catching member and flip lock plate. In an embodiment, the strike plate may be configured to replace any standard strike plate disposed on an inside portion of a door jamb, and the flap lock plate may longitudinally extend from a hinged connection with strike plate in the direction of an opening door so as to optionally block the door from opening and avoid obstructing a swinging door when disengaged. In use, the catching member may be placed around the door knob or handle so that the means for connecting the catching member and flip lock plate form an inseparable link between the door jamb and door itself.

  • Patent number: 8177267
Abstract: A door anti-latch device includes a base mounted to a door or a door frame, and a lever rotatably mounted to the base so that the lever can rotate about a pivot point from an open position to a latching position. The lever includes a handle end and an opposing stop end. The lever can be rotated between the open position and the latching position by moving the lever handle. The lever stop prevents the door from latching when the lever is in the open position and will not prevent the door from latching when the lever is in the latching position. The door anti-latch device can be moved from the open position to the latching position without leaving the room or opening the door.

  • Patent number: 5325685
Abstract: A portable auxiliary door lock includes a lock cylinder slidable upon a bar having toothed edges to engage the locking means within the cylinder. The device differs from such locks for sliding panels, as it provides for temporary attachment between the edge of an arcuately hinged door and the adjacent door jamb to secure the door when it is closed. One end of the bar is bent at a 90 degree angle to insert into the latch recess of the striker plate. However, rather than using the lock cylinder to abut against the door and thereby at least partially blocking access to the lock cylinder for actuation due to the adjacent door knob assembly, the cylinder faces away from the knob assembly and an additional stop plate is used to retain the door. Other improvements are provided, such as adjustment for the spacing between the door and the jamb and additional security to preclude the forced removal of the lock cylinder from the bar.
