The locking surface incorporates a pair of parallel sharp edges wherein said edges are jammed against the cable, and/or deformed because the cable is made of harder material. In another aspect, the cable on insertion, dislodges a sacrificial U-shaped bracket to enable the cable to get past the disk. A relatively strong spring bears against the cable to enable firm backing, and the spring force is sufficiently strong that disk movement is assisted by the bracket to enable initial cable insertion.

The struts are then sheared away, and the cover plate is freely hinged. In the final assembly the strap encircles the patient's wrist and the cover plate is brought down over the base plate, pointed projections on the cover plate piercing the free end of the strap and entering the bushings, and staggered ribs augmenting the gripping. The lock shackle is provided with a weakened portion which may be severed in order to remove the lock. Once the shackle has been severed, the shackle may be removed from the lock body without further deformation of the lock. In this manner the seal lock may be removed without damaging the lock body, and the lock body may be reused.

    Abstract: The invention relates to car seals for use on railroad freight cars, trucks, trailer trucks and the like, when it is desired to show at the point of destination whether the car has been tampered with. The seal provided by the present invention has a two piece cap and a sealing strip which engages in the two piece cap to provide the strap for overlapping the car door handle. In its preferred form the strap is formed of a strip which has an enlarged portion immediately behind its forward end which in final form provides inwardly-turned flanges to retain the forward end of the strip and the rearward end of the strip when inserted within the flanges, together with spring locking means which engage in coinciding holes in said strip to retain the same within the cap when the free end of the strip is inserted within the cap.
