Abstract: This disengageable strike has a strike annexed to a strike member that is slideably mounted to a strike base. The strike member and strike base are, in turn, mounted to a door frame or door opposite a slam latch. In a first position, the strike engages the latch to prevent the door from opening. An electrically disengageable inhibitor prevents manual movement of the sliding strike from the first position. However, when the inhibitor is disengaged, the strike can be manually moved/slid using an actuator (in the form of a handle annexed to the strike member) to a second position where it does not engage the latch to prevent the door from opening. A biasing spring biasing the strike and strike member towards the first position helps to return it to the first position after the actuator is released. Further, one portion of a sensor for a signal generator is mounted to the strike member such that it is opposite the other portion in the door or frame only when the strike is in the first position.

  • Patent number: 6595561
Abstract: The invention relates to a closure comprising a closing head (20) and a lock (10) which rest on the immobile or mobile part of a door, flap or such like. The closing head (20) has an undercut axial shoulder (26) which during coupling is engaged by a radially mobile blocking member (11) in the lock (10). The lock (10) further comprises a sensing member (12) and a restoring member (13) for the blocking member (11). To make the lock less prone to malfunctions the invention provides for the axially spring-loaded sensing member (12) to be used as a locking means for the radially spring-loaded blocking member (11). When the locking effect is actuated the blocking member (11) is held in a release position in relation to the closing head (20). When the closing head (20) is engaged the sensing member (12) carries out an axial movement which releases the lock so that the radial spring-loading can move the blocking member (11) into its blocked position.

  • Patent number: 6595564
Abstract: An electric door strike having a keeper rotatably mounted in a fixed strike case for movement between open and closed positions. The keeper includes dual solenoids with a biasing link between the solenoid plungers to urge the plungers to a non-actuated position. Changing the biasing link in the keeper changes the mode of operation. The application of an actuating signal to a solenoid moving the plungers to an actuated position which can be either the fail-safe or fail-secure mode of operation depending on the biasing link employed.

Abstract: An improved astragal assembly for double door entryways includes an extruded aluminum frame into which upper and lower flush bolt assemblies are slidably disposed. The flush bolt assemblies include a relatively long metal bolt about which is injection overmolded a series of retainer guides, which ride in the frame. Locking mechanisms are also integrally overmolded onto the bolts. The frame and all components of the astragal assembly are symmetrical and reversible so that the assembly is non-handed; that is, it can be adapted to both a right hand swing and a left-hand swing inactive door. A unique strike plate mounting system and bottom-sealing block are provided and the upper end of the assembly includes means for sealing against the stop of a head jamb. Drafts at the upper and lower inside corners of the doors of a double door entryway are thus prevented.

  • Patent number: 6471265
Abstract: The disclosed improved striker fastening plate and method consists of a striker fastening plate, a recoiling guided stop plate and a biasing means, which functions as a method for resisting kick-in and pry-in attempts to, without authorization, enter into a property. This is accomplished when the force from an entry attempt activates the recoiling guided stop plate. As the recoiling guided stop plate moves away from the source of the force, the biasing means is activated to absorb the shock or movement caused by the force, stores it as energy and releases it back toward it's source, returning the recoiling stop plate back to it's original position, thus maintaining a securely locked door or portal.
