Portable Patents (Class 292/343)
  • Patent number: 4244610
Abstract: A lock for use in conjunction with a window panel slidably supported in a track of a channel member includes a stop member which is permanently and translatably secured in the track of the channel member. The track includes a generally tubular portion extending the length thereof and the stop member includes a generally U-shaped lower portion, with the distal end of the U-shaped portion slidably disposed in the tubular track portion. The stop member includes a web portion extending upwardly from the U-shaped portion, and a top panel extending orthogonally from the upper end of the web. The stop member may be pivoted about the portion engaged in the tubular part of the track to increase the frictional engagement therewith and prevent translation of the stop member. The top panel of the stop member includes obliquely extending edges which are engaged by the sliding window panel to rotate the stop member into the locked position.

  • Patent number: 4230353
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a stop for doors which open into rooms having a solid carpet (such as wall-to-wall carpet that is fastened down) and comprises a handle, a base member and downwardly extending projections angulated so that they slant away from the door. When placed in proximate relation to the door, the unauthorized opening of the door is prevented to the extent that entry into that room is impossible without damaging the door.

  • Patent number: 4208841
Abstract: A stop assembly for a sliding closure includes a wedge-shape stop member which may be removably secured to the closure in a position where the stop member will become wedged between the relatively sliding members to preclude opening more than a predetermined distance. Cooperating pad-like elements having respectively numerous hooks and loops thereon are affixed to the closure and stop member, respectively, and when in mating engagement resist separation in a direction parallel to the direction of movement of the sliding member to preclude opening of the closure and are readily separable in a direction normal to such direction of movement to remove the stop member to permit unobstructed opening of the closure. When not in use, the stop member may be independently secured in a convenient storage location where it will not interfere with such closure movement by another pad-like element cooperating with the element affixed to the stop member.

  • Patent number: 4171835
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a lock suitable for use with sliding type windows which are constrained to ride within trackways. The apparatus comprises a pair of links pivotally connected having tab portions to provide for manipulation of these two links relative to each other and a biasing apparatus which tends to retard the two links from assuming a position in which one link would substantially totally overlie the other link. Further, downwardly extending tabs provide the nesting area for opposed extremities of the biasing spring which is wrapped in a preferred embodiment around the pivoting juncture of the two links and these tabs ride in the trackway or channel of the sliding windows and provide a resistive reaction to unauthorized opening of the window to such an extent that the window can not be opened in the conventional manner.

  • Patent number: 4028772
Abstract: A mounting device affixed to a sliding door frame supports a resilient ball in a manner whereby the ball is positionable in spaced relation with the door and the frame of the door when the door is closed thereby permitting the door to be securely closed and interposed between the door and frame when the door is open thereby preventing the door from closing, and protecting the fingers of unsuspecting people from being crushed between the door and the frame.

  • Patent number: 3977714
Abstract: A door stop assembly having a wedge-shaped stop member formed of a resilient material and having a pair of cylindrical projections extending in spaced longitudinal alignment from the undersurface thereof and a stop plate having two pairs of spaced longitudinally disposed openings adapted to receive projections of the stop member. The plate is positioned adjacent the door so that the stop member can be disposed in a jamming position to hold the door closed and a stop position in which the door can be opened slightly.
