Lever Patents (Class 292/66)
  • Patent number: 5326141
Abstract: A retractable window latch for locking together a first and second window having interlocking meeting rails. The retractable window latch includes a latch body having a faceplate that is substantially flush with a first interlocking meeting rail. A retractable bolt disposed in the latch body extends outwardly through a slot in the faceplate. A handle is coupled to the bolt for retracting the bolt into the latch body. The bolt remains retracted while the first and second windows are open. A flexible release member is disposed behind the faceplate such that the flexible release member engages a second interlocking meeting rail when the first and second windows are closed. The second interlocking meeting rail engages the flexible release member in order to lift the retractable bolt from the slot in the faceplate. A spring forces the bolt outwardly from the latch body to secure the first and second windows together.

  • Patent number: 5076080
Abstract: A hatch latch with a peripheral top surface adapted to fit through an opening in a hatch has a rotatable axial shaft with a latch member toward its lower end, the shaft being partially enclosed in an outer housing and having a central cavity at its upper end surrounded by a groove in the peripheral top surface which makes the hatch latch waterproof by draining water to the periphery by one or more channels leading to an edge of the peripheral top surface. The cavity is adapted to contain a locking device for locking a hatch that needs to be both latched and locked or a plug to fill the top of the cavity when the hatch requires only latching. A bail, D-ring or the like is used to raise and lower the shaft between secured and latched positions and, to rotate the shaft between latched and unlatched positions.

  • Patent number: 5033778
Abstract: An over-center toggle latch which can be integrally molded with the first and second members of a case. The over-center toggle latch includes a hinge arm that has first and second spaced ends. A first living hinge attaches the first end of the hinge arm to the first case member. A second living hinge is for coupling a lever arm to the second end of the hinge arm. An engagement member-receiving seat is formed on the second member of the case. An engagement member is mounted to the lever arm and is spaced from the second hinge. The engagement member pivotally engages the seat with the hinge arm in an over-center position with respect to the engagement member. The latch is configured for use with first and second case members that have sides and edges. When the first and second case members are secured by the latch, the edges are generally coplanar and perpendicular to the sides.

  • Patent number: 4964755
Abstract: An improved cover lock apparatus comprises a rotatable and axially slidable crank plate connected to a plurality of retractable lock rods. The crank plate is disposed between the cover and a lock plate and is slidably and rotatably mounted to the lock plate. The crank plate has two upwardly protruding lock pins oriented to engage mating holes in the lock plate and is upwardly biased against the lock plate by a spring. When the lock pins are engaged in these holes, the crank plate cannot be rotated to retract the lock rods. Before the crank plate can be rotated to retract the lock rods, the lock pins must be disengaged from the mating holes in the lock plate by forcibly pushing down on the crank plate via a special lock key to overcome the spring bias that normally holds the crank plate pins in the engaged position. Once the crank plate is pushed downward enough to disengage the lock pins, it can be rotated to retract the lock rods.

  • Patent number: 4763935
Abstract: A rotary operated latch of the "lift and turn" fastener type is disclosed having a cam action in the handle such that when the handle is moved to a latched position, it provides a pull on the pawl to compress a door or panel against a door or panel frame, or its gasket, to provide a tight seal. An over-center action prevents accidental release. A slot and pin arrangement prevents moving the handle to a latched position, except when the pin and slot are aligned. While the pawl and handle are normally rotatable relative to a sleeve in the door or panel which carries the mechanism, the pin and slot are so located as to be incapable of sufficient axial relative movement to move the handle into a latched position, except when the pawl is rotatably positioned for movement into a latched position.
