    Abstract: An adjustable door stop that enables a hinged door to be propped open at any desired angle relative to the frame to which the door is mounted. Alternatively, the device enables a door to be securely closed, thereby operating as a lock. The device comprises a substantially cylinder-like structure placed over or otherwise mounted to a door hinge. An arcuate inner chamber is disposed and freely moves within the substantially hollow interior of an arcuate outer chamber. Various angular orientations are obtained by selectively aligning the inner chamber with the outer chamber. The chambers are held in their respective positions by activating a locking member disposed on the door stop.

    Abstract: A tailgate support is provided for a cargo box having a floor, opposite sidewalls and a rear wall with the latter being defined by a tailgate which is mounted for pivoting about a horizontal axis located adjacent the floor, between an upright closed position and a recumbent open position. The tailgate support includes an arm mounted beneath the floor and movable between a stored position wherein the arm is disposed beneath the floor and a support position wherein the arm extends beyond the floor in a direction of horizontal extension of the tailgate as considered when the tailgate is in its open position. The tailgate rests on the arm when the arm is in its support position and the tailgate is in its open position. A latching mechanism is provided to secure the tailgate in its open position. A stop is provided to limit the pivotal movement of the arm beyond its stored and support positions.

    Abstract: A door restraining assembly for use with a door hingedly connected to a surrounding door frame. At least one pin member includes a cylindrically shaped body and is positioned within a recess drilled into either or both a hinge side and door side of a door. A seating portion extends laterally from the pin member past the door surface. At least one receiving member includes a pin receiving portion and a reduced diameter reinforcing portion and is mounted within a corresponding recess drilled within the door jamb. The recess for the reinforcing portion extends well past the door jamb and through one or more of the vertically extending wall studs of the wall structure surrounding the door frame. According to further embodiments, a restraining assembly is provided on each the hinge side and latch side of the door frame. A method for installing a restraining assembly according to the present invention is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A door lock has a base securable to a door or door frame, and a locking arm pivotally connected to the base and movable when the base is secured to the door or the door frame to a blocking position where the door is prevented from opening and a retracted position where the locking arm is retracted from the door locking position. The locking arm is biased to the retracted position to facilitate closing the door when the base is secured to the door or to the door frame. A locking device is slidably mounted on the base for sliding movement to a locking position in a direction parallel to the plane of the door to engage the locking arm and hold the locking arm in the blocking position against the biasing when the door is closed, thereby locking the door. The door is unlocked by sliding movement of the locking device to an unlocking position in a direction opposite to the first mentioned direction to become disengaged from the locking arm, whereby the biasing returns the locking arm to the retracted position.

An interlock mechanism interconnects locking devices on opposite sides of the hinged member to prevent double unlocking. A first longitudinal channel is formed in the hinge lock in which to receive the pair of hinge plates of the existing hinge assembly when the door is rotated to a closed position and the hinge plates are correspondingly rotated into face-to-face alignment with one another. The hinge lock includes second and third longitudinal channels formed therein in which to receive respective ones of the hinge plates when the door is rotated to a first opened position and the hinge plates are correspondingly rotated to form an angle of 90 degrees.

A bracket including a flat rectangular plate is attached to the front face along the edge near the hinge side of a hinged door at a sufficient height and out of reach from small children, by adhesive or other fastening means. A pair of opposing hinge walls are mounted orthogonally at the extremities on the front face of the rectangular plate. Said stopper means is hingedly attached to the rectangular plate by means of a hinge pin and a restoring spring. When the spring is not loaded, said stopper means is positioned naturally in an obtrusive manner in the front face gap near the hinge side created by the opening and closing of the hinged door, thereby preventing a partially opened door from being shut by small children who can accidently insert their fingers or other body parts into said gap.

    Abstract: A door security system that includes an interior component system, an exterior component system, a hinge screw component, and a door striker component. The interior system consists of a pair of plates, one mounted on the door and the other mounted on the door jamb. Each plate includes a flanged portion having a pair of apertures. A bolt consisting of a rod and a hook is inserted through one aperture of each plate to secure the door to the door assembly. A chain and hook system is connected between the other two apertures of the respective plates. When only the chain is used, the door can be safely opened partially to preview the prospective visitor. The exterior component consists of a flanged plates wherein a flanged portion is designed to fit into a corresponding slot in the door jamb to inhibit forceful entry into the dwelling. A spacer is provided between the door contact member and the door frame contact member so as to position the two members in contact with the door and the door frame, respectively. The door contact member and the door frame contact member, as well as the spacer, are releasably secured to the door hinge to maintain the door contact member in contact with the door and the door frame contact member in contact with the door frame. The door lock limits the amount of rotation of the door about the hinge and thus prevents entry through the doorway when the door is closed and the lock is attached to the hinge. The door lock may be adjusted so as to conform to various door and door frame configurations as well as to permit limited opening of the door.

This also allows easy removal on special occasions. The reinforcing rigid metal member (20a) within the construction of a new door has an L-shaped end (62) for securely attaching a hinge plate (not shown), giving added strength to the hinge side of the door. The rigid metal member (20+20a) has an opening (22) to encompass a cylindrical door lock assembly (46) or dead bolt lock assembly (44). These systems give the same security when in or away from the dwelling.

The latch and stop bars are preferably a single bar with two free portions at its opposite ends. The catches have bearing surfaces which distort the bar as the door swings to prepare it to snap into locking engagement with the catches. Access to the latch bar, to allow unlatching, is provided through the door.

    Abstract: A security door system includes an actuator mechanism housed in a box-like, closed housing to minimize the possibility of tampering with the actuator mechanism such as would permit unlawful entry through the door. The actuator mechanism drives one or more, and illustratively two, bolts which extend horizontally across the door. One of the bolts enters a receiver in the jamb along the edge of the door opposite the hinged edge. The other bolt enters a receiver provided in the jamb along the hinged door edge. The security door system further includes a jamb and frame construction in which the jamb and surrounding frame cooperate to provide the bolt receivers. A metal reinforcing plate which is fixed to the frame by long wood screws, or the like, forms a wall of the receiver. This metal walled, deep receiver is less susceptible to damage by tampering, such as by springing the jamb or ramming against the door, than prior art security door systems.

The cross bar also carries a spring-loaded connecting means which is adapted to be engaged with the hinge pin of a conventional door hinge to thereby hold the cross bar in place on the hinge and the stop members in engagement with the door and door jamb. The bar is pivotally connected to the hinge pin by the connecting means so that it may be rotated 90.degree. to permit normal operation of the door, and in this regard secondary stop members are provided to function as normal door stop members when the device is in its inoperative or unlocked position.
