Lever Operator, Flush Patents (Class 292/DIG31)
  • Patent number: 5496078
Abstract: A flush handle assembly itself and a stationary frame 36 can be prevented from being damaged even when a door 35 is opened and closed in a condition in which a front end of a latch 30 is projected from the door 35. In the assembly: a handle 9 has its base end pivoted to side walls 3 of a casing 1 through a pivot 18; a leaf spring 19 keeps the handle 9 in position and urges the same to be projected from or retracted in the casing 1; the latch 30 is received in a latch casing 24 and is urged by a spring 33 to move forward; a control projection 17 of a rear surface of the handle 19 is abutted on an oblique-plate portion 32 of a side surface of the latch element 30; the projection 17 of the handle 19 is moved back and forth as the handle 19 is projected or retracted, so that the latch 30 is slidably moved horizontally along guide portions 28, 29 of the latch casing 24.

The housing carries at least one anchor leg, and preferably several, which project from the base and extend through registering apertures provided in the panel. Each of these anchor legs has a foot at the end thereof which is adapted to engage and underlie the underside of the panel when the housing is slid longitudinally along the surface so that the foot will engage with the underside of the housing and thereby prevent the housing from being pulled away from the panel. The housing also has a plurality of locking legs projecting from the base and extending through registering openings in the panel.

Abstract: A handle assembly for controlling an aircraft door latch mechanism so that the door can be opened or closed from either inside or outside the aircraft. The assembly includes an inner shaft that is connected to the latch mechanism so as to control the opening and closing of the door, and an outer shaft that overlaps the inner shaft and that can be telescopically extended away from inner shaft. An inside handle is attached to the inner shaft so as to rotate the shaft. Rotation of the outer shaft is controlled by an outside handle attached thereto. An inner clutch half is attached, by splines, to the inboard end of the outer shaft. An outer clutch half is attached, by splines, to the outboard end of the inner shaft. The clutch halves are normally spaced away from each other. When the outside handle and the outer shaft are extended, the clutch halves interlock so that the shafts will rotate in unison. An actuator disarming assembly with a translating pivoting crank is attached to the outer shaft.

Abstract: A door closure assembly is disclosed that has a latch assembly, a housing assembly and a interior panel assembly. The latch assembly is easily mounted to a door and can have a tab that cooperates with a boss on the housing assembly to facilitate alignment of the housing assembly with the latch assembly. The housing assembly is designed to minimize water entry into the door closure assembly, minimize the number of parts that operate on the latch assembly and help identify the key to be used to operate one of the two locks thereof. The inside panel assembly is designed to reduce the number of parts required to operate the latch assembly and is designed so that the handle assembly extending therefrom can be partially rotated before operating the latch assembly.

  • Patent number: 5123687
Abstract: A grip control for a handle for unlocking vehicle doors, which handle in a rest position can be retracted flush with an outer contour in a recess of the vehicle door. The handle can be moved in a controlled manner out of the recess into a ready position for opening the vehicle door. Subsequently, the handle can be pivoted out further counter to a spring force with actuation of a lock unlocking device. The grip control includes two pivot levers which are articulated at one side fixed to the door, and on the other side are connected in an articulated manner to the handle. When the pivot levers are pivoted in a controlled manner, they displace the handle into a ready position parallel with the outer contour of the door, and they then permit an additional pivoting-out movement of a side of the grip counter to the force of a spring.

  • Patent number: 5076080
Abstract: A hatch latch with a peripheral top surface adapted to fit through an opening in a hatch has a rotatable axial shaft with a latch member toward its lower end, the shaft being partially enclosed in an outer housing and having a central cavity at its upper end surrounded by a groove in the peripheral top surface which makes the hatch latch waterproof by draining water to the periphery by one or more channels leading to an edge of the peripheral top surface. The cavity is adapted to contain a locking device for locking a hatch that needs to be both latched and locked or a plug to fill the top of the cavity when the hatch requires only latching. • Patent number: 5068946
Abstract: The present invention relates to a locking hinge assembly for pivotally attaching a movable cowling panel to a stationary cowling portion in which the locking mechanism is incorporated into the hinge assembly. The hinge assembly includes pivoting links attaching the movable cowling panel to a stationary fitting member which, in turn, may be attached to the stationary cowling. The links, along with the stationary fitting member and the movable cowling panel form a quadrilateral with four pivot axes located at the apexes of the quadrilateral. The assembly includes a movable hook member mounted on the stationary fitting member such that it moves into engagement with a pivot shaft attaching one of the links to the movable cowling panel when the panel is in its closed position. A cam portion formed on one of the links contacts the hook member as the panel moves toward its closed position so as to move the hook member into engagement with the pivot shaft.
